Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the continuous production of all products by setting up, repairing, rebuilding, and installing production equipment. This position requires a technical leader on the day shift who can manage planned maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and minimize downtime due to equipment failure. Responsibilities include assisting with operator training to recognize potential equipment malfunctions and performing preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

+ Set up, repair, rebuild, and install production equipment.

+ Repair malfunctioning production equipment, including fillers, conveyors, drives, coolers, palletizing, and boxing components.

+ Install new equipment or replace existing equipment as needed.

+ Set up production lines for product changeovers.

+ Analyze mechanical and operational problems and initiate corrective action plans.

+ Perform corrective repairs and running adjustments to maximize production, safety, and quality.

+ Troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild equipment such as mechanical drives, pneumatics, pumps, valves, and conveyors.

+ Assist with training operators to recognize and report equipment malfunctions.

+ Assist with preventive maintenance and ensure operator knowledge of equipment.

Essential Skills

+ 2+ years of experience as a line mechanic in a high-speed production environment, preferably in food manufacturing or bottling.

+ Ability to use machine shop equipment, hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.

+ Ability to read mechanical diagrams.

+ Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic controls and components.

+ Experience in pipe fitting, welding, and machining.

+ Machining and fabrication skills.

+ Experience with TPM or Lean Manufacturing is a plus.

+ Working knowledge of computers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Electrical ability to troubleshoot 480v electric, 3-phase motors, and PLCs.

+ Experience in preventive maintenance work on beverage filling packaging equipment.

Work Environment

Work in a GMP food and beverage company where casual attire is acceptable, but jewelry, makeup, and long nails are not allowed on the production floor.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, New Jersey.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
