Highly skilled staff, a very advanced cardiac program, and a great place to learn and grow.
This position has one admin, 21 FT and 6 PRN cardiac sonographer direct reports. The department supports inpatients, outpatients, intraprocedural structural heart TEEs and TTEs.
Associate's degree and at least - 3 Years of Experience required:
Desired skills: Beginners to intermediate level leadership skills required. Plus avanced knowledge of Echocardiography, IAC accreditation skills, Epic EMR, Philips Epiq 7 equipment, and basic proficiency in Xcel and other Microsoft Office tools. Will be involved in frequent direct patient care and regular team training.
Must have at least ONE of the following:
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardio Credentialing Int'l(CCI), Cert from the Amer Registry for Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Reg Diag Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Vascular Tech (RVT), ARRT-N from Amer Registry of Rad Tech(ARRT)
JOB SUMMARY
The Supervisor of Non-Invasive Cardiology plans, organizes, and directs operational and financial activities of Non-Invasive Cardiology Department. Develops, recommends and implements policies, procedures, goals and targets. Develops, recommends, implements and monitors capital and operating budgets. Supervises assigned staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
+ Plans, organizes and directs operational and financial activities of Non-Invasive Cardiology Department.
+ Oversees staff engaged in non-invasive diagnostic testing for patients.
+ Organizes laboratory staff and equipment to maximize efficiency.
+ Develops, recommends and implements policies, procedures, goals and targets for department.
+ Ensures compliance with applicable standards of Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and other regulatory requirements. Initiates corrective action as needed.
+ Assesses patient needs for appropriate testing methodology.
+ Contacts Physician to discuss any necessary changes in prescribed testing procedures.
+ Coordinates scheduling of Laboratory procedures with Physicians.
+ Performs non-invasive tests to establish diagnosis as ordered by referring physician.
+ Explains test procedure to patient and family.
+ Establishes appropriate positioning of patient and equipment to obtain graphic responses, and moves and positions patient.
+ Operates variety of specialized equipment to perform tests. Prepares test results and graphs for interpreting Physician evaluation.
+ Provides preliminary interpretation of test results to referring Physician.
+ Interviews, hires, trains, counsels and evaluates staff, and recommends termination when necessary.
+ Establishes staffing needs and scheduling requirements, and coordinates with staff members, Physicians, and other departments as necessary.
+ Develops and implements in-service training and educational programs for staff.
+ Develops, recommends, implement, and monitors capital and operating budgets for assigned departments.
+ Monitors expenses and explain variances. Prepares and examines various statistical and financial reports for internal and external use.
+ Ensures proper operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
+ Directs, develops and performs research projects.
+ Directs continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities to better serve customer needs and improve quality of services.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
+ Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular values, instrumentation and techniques.
+ Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
+ Ability to work a flexible schedule; including early morning hours, and evening hours.
+ Have a personal interest in primary and secondary cardiac prevention and promote a positive image in the community to market health promotion.
+ Basic medical terminology knowledge pertaining to heart disease.
+ Must exhibit exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and data entry.
