    Medical Assistant

    Job Description

    Join our dynamic team as a Medical Assistant, where you will provide nursing care under the direction of a physician or physician extender. You will be instrumental in ensuring high-quality patient care and maintaining clinical quality assurance.

    Responsibilities

    + Provide nursing care to patients under the direction of a physician or physician extender.

    + Assist in examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.

    + Utilize medical equipment and instruments safely and effectively.

    + Maintain awareness of safety hazards and precautions within the clinical setting.

    + Perform triage for patient calls and manage urgent appointments or interventions.

    + Provide patient health counseling, education, and instruction.

    + Support routine office procedures and collaborate with the clinical care team.

    + Maintain and update patient records while ensuring confidentiality.

    + Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts with recent medication changes and test results.

    + Review and report lab results to the physician for further guidance.

    + Prepare patients for exams and treatments by escorting them to exam rooms and obtaining urinalysis and vital signs.

    + Document all information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

    + Conduct and document monthly chronic care management encounters for enrolled patients.

    + Execute and document orders from physicians or physician extenders under supervision.

    + Assist with scheduling tests and treatments as needed.

    Essential Skills

    + Valid CMA licensure in Tennessee.

    + 2-3+ years of experience as a medical assistant.

    + Current BLS certification.

    + Ability to take and enter vital signs into EMR.

    + Proficiency in performing and reading urine test strips.

    + Ability to interpret lab results and report to physicians.

    + Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

    + Ability to maintain quality control standards.

    + Basic computer skills.

    + Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively orally and in writing.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Ability to identify problems and seek appropriate guidance.

    + Knowledge of medical practice and patient care.

    + Ability to use various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures.

    + Basic arithmetic knowledge.

    Work Environment

    Work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, managing a patient load of 30-35. Collaborate closely with a team consisting of a nurse, receptionist, and another medical assistant. Be prepared to sit or stand for extended periods, and occasionally bend, stoop, and stretch.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
