    **This position supports Munson Healthcare's community hospitals including locations in Cadillac, Charlevoix, Frankfort, Gaylord, Grayling, and Manistee. Primary work office will be in one of these hospitals.** SUMMARY

     

    The Coord Departmental Systems-Clinical Quality is responsible for general clerical responsibilities, data management and analysis to support the needs of the department and associated quality and safety priorities across MHC. This position also assists in the development of new templates/tools and creating efficiencies in workflows.

    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Experience/Education

    + Associate degree preferred. In the absence of an associate’s degree, the candidate must have a minimum of two years working in a hospital or other health care setting and include experience in at least one of the following: direct patient care, charting/chart review, data management and analysis, using electronic medical records and other systems as part of responsibilities. Other healthcare professionals including but not limited to emergency medical technicians, patient care technicians, and medial assistants may be eligible.

    + Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

    + Knowledge and experience related to medical terminology, electronic medical records systems, data entry, and strong Microsoft Office skills are strongly preferred.

     

    Technical Knowledge (required)

     

    + General understanding:

    + Business and workflow concepts

    + Microsoft Office products (especially Excel, Access, Word, and Teams)

    + Must be able to manage data to produce routine and ad hoc reports

    + Ability to train with external collaborative quality initiatives and use associated software and workflows (as applicable)

    + Ability to use electronic health records

     

    Professional skills

     

    + Demonstrated ability to find and effectively share data

    + Strong interpersonal, technical, written and verbal communication skills required

    + Demonstrates considerable initiative and ability to work independently

    + Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required

    ORGANIZATION

    Under the general supervision of the Director of Quality and Patient Safety but works with the department analysts and coordinators to identify and create solutions. This position will work across multiple hospitals.

     

    This position in based in the community hospitals. A primary office site will be determined. Very occasional travel may be required and will be reimbursed per MHC policy.

    DUTIES

    Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.

    Specific Duties:

    + Design, development, and ongoing management of data for the department.

    + If applicable, complete Blue Cross Blue Shield clinical data abstractor training and accurately complete chart review, abstraction, and submission as required. This may include external accuracy audits.

    + Develops processes to facilitate the flow of information among involved teams.

    + Coordinates communications as needed.

    + Able to make and/or coordinate data enhancements to accommodate future needs identified by the department and/or external quality programs.

    + Ability to pull files and upload to external databases for use, including but not limited to CMS, Blue Cross, NDNQI, and other vendors who assist with clinical data submission.

    + Extract data from various systems and reports to be used on scorecards.

    + Ability to produce and distribute accurate meeting minutes for various meetings and workgroups.

    + Populate medical director reports, scorecards, etc. as needed

    + Ability to develop and maintain ongoing professional practice evaluations for providers.

    + Ability to complete various audits using policies and the electronic medical record.

    + Designs templates and tools.

    + Create charts, tables, and graphs to report and analyze data. Provide routine reports and ad hoc reporting as needed.

    + General clerical duties such as mailing letters.

    + May help with patient surveys for varying quality programs.

    + Participation in hospital engagement events.

     

    Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
