How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region:
The Assistant Manager, Planning and Scheduling, is responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and prioritization of maintenance and repair activities for MCES Wastewater Treatment plants. They assist with the day-to-day supervision of maintenance activities, staff, and contractors, and contribute to the development of the budget and capital planning. They also help document activities to enhance the reliability of MCES equipment and wastewater processes.
What you would do in this job
+ Prepares job plans and scopes for maintenance projects and activities. Identifies key tasks, procedures, materials, and safety measures critical to the completion of these projects and activities.
+ Schedules preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Identifies maintenance, repair, modification, or replacement needs.
+ Plans for outside contracted maintenance projects and activities that need to be contracted; selects contractors appropriate to the job required; and supervises the work of contract personnel attending to assigned projects.
+ Prepares purchase requisitions, requests for quotations, sole source documents, and contract initiation memos to support maintenance projects and activities; serves as Project Manager for assigned projects.
+ Facilitates planning meetings to discuss the upgrading and/or replacement of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment and establishes work priorities and scheduling requirements.
+ Maintains necessary department records, files, plans, logs, computer programs, and general office and tenant communication.
+ Improves workforce productivity and work quality by eliminating, in advance, potential delays and obstacles through proper scheduling.
+ Acts as principal contact and liaison between Maintenance, Operations, and other departments served by Maintenance.
What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)
Any of the following combinations of completed education (degree field of study in mechanical or electrical technology, or closely related field) and experience (in electrical or mechanical industrial equipment repair, which includes servicing, maintaining, and installing pumps, compressors, generators, turbines, mechanical drives, hydraulic systems, etc.).
+ High school diploma/GED with ten (10) years of experience, of which two (2) or more years must be in planning, scheduling, and/or work estimation,ANDthree (3) or more years of experience in a lead, supervisory or project management role.
+ Associate or two-year college/technical school degree with eight (8) years of experience, of which two (2) or more years must be in planning, scheduling, and/or work estimation,ANDthree (3) or more years of experience in a lead, supervisory or project management role.
+ Bachelor's or four-year college/technical school degree with six (6) years of experience, of which two (2) or more years must be in planning, scheduling, and/or work estimation,ANDthree (3) or more years of experience in a lead, supervisory or project management role.
This position requires a valid Driver's License.
What additional skills and experience would be helpful in this job (desired qualifications):
+ Certified Reliability Leader (CRL) from the Association of Asset Management Professionals (AMP).
+ Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) from the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP).
+ Five or more years working within Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) or advanced Computerized Maintenance Management (CMM) systems, including work estimation (labor, materials, and services costs), scheduling, and preventive maintenance optimization.
+ Experience supervising contractors.
+ Experience promoting an equitable, positive, and respectful work environment that values culture and diversity among all employees.
What knowledge, skills and abilities you should have within the first six months on the job:
+ Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanical concepts, including preventative maintenance techniques.
+ Electrical and instrumentation aptitude and knowledge of concepts, including preventative maintenance techniques.
+ Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
+ Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical drawings, procedures, and government regulations.
+ Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers or clients.
+ Skill and persuasion in dealings with others inside and outside of the department. Interactions generally require influencing, instructing, and negotiating with individuals to gain their understanding, cooperation, and action. Interactions may involve efforts to persuade and negotiate with other representatives or officials outside of the organization, but this position does not have the authority to act on behalf of the organization in matters where there are legitimate differences of opinion.

Full Salary Range: $47.50 - $77.09 hourly; $98,800- $160,347 annually
*Salary is determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, our total compensation package, and internal pay structure.
What your work environment would be:
Position works in an office environment and industrial plant. Ability to work non-standard hours and change scheduled days off and assignments on short notice. Some travel to other facilities is required. Up to one third of the time, this position works near moving parts or equipment and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions and moderate noise. This position requires climbing ladders, stairs and scaffold.
