    Amentum (Waimea, HI)


    Amentum is seeking an **Equipment Operator** for a position on **Kauai, HI** . Supporting the Public Works Department. Under general direction of a supervisor or Lead Person, performs a variety of sub-professional duties and work-related repairs, new construction, fabrication and alteration of facilities and equipment.

    Responsibilities

    Specific assignments and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas:

    + Manipulate control to maneuver or operate working attachments on the front-end loader, backhoe, road grader, asphalt roller, tractor mowers, road sweepers, D4 and D6 bulldozers, dump trucks, stake trucks, forklifts to 10 tons, water tanker, fuel truck, bus and tractor trailer.

    + Operate pneumatic gas and powered tools related to the trade.

    + Capable of acquiring the skill and knowledge of proper and safe tools and equipment associated with the trade.

    + Be able to demonstrate ability to comprehend and follow instructions at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.

    + Have a good understanding of basic mathematics and be able to work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, layout and set grades.

    + Performs a variety of construction duties.

    + Works with other semi-skilled and skilled craft persons and coordinates with members of other activities to ensure quality and timely accomplishment of assigned duties.

    + Responsible for care of Government equipment, tools, property, and materials, and assure that they are properly maintained and safeguarded.

    + Performs specific tasks in accordance with verbal and/or written instructions and observes safety, fire, health and work rules.

    + Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

    Additional Responsibilities

    + Lifting, pushing/pulling over 50 lbs. (2-men assist)

    + Work positions requirements: walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, cramped, sitting and work requiring repeated stooping or frequent climbing.

    + Confined work area, field assignment, and inclement weather.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + High School graduate or equivalent.

    + Must have completed trade school training, correspondence school or have a minimum four (4) years apprenticeship or equivalent work experience in trade.

    + A minimum of four (4) years apprenticeship or equivalent work experience in a direct or related field.

    + Must demonstrate ability to comprehend and follow instructions at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.

    + Must have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

    + Must be able to obtain proper State and Government licenses to operate equipment.

    + Construction experience required.

     

    Security Clearance

     

    Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a US Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.

    HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $38.61 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
