    Job Description Summary:

    The Clinical Enterprise Analytics Lead directs a team of analysts to support clinical & operations teams such as OhioHealth Physician Group, Clinical Enterprise, and other internal stakeholders. This role is a functional leadership role responsible for solving complex problems, identifying opportunities, providing insights and opinions while being viewed as a thought leader by Senior and Executive leadership. This role will present independently to Senior and Executive leadership.

     

    The Clinical Enterprise Analytics Lead, and team will contribute to the implementation of organizational strategy involving the analysis of large complex healthcare data sets to discover hidden patterns, trends, and associations in support of operational and clinical objectives. This role will partner and consult with stakeholders to identify opportunities and apply advanced analytic solutions, understand requirements, and provide effective data analytic solutions. This role may act as a liaison between clinical business units and other system resources by facilitating as project manager.

     

    The Clinical Enterprise Analytics Lead, and team will provide data support, especially in clinical data query, extraction, and merging from multiple sources such as electronic medical record data, decision support data, clinical quality data, various clinical registries, and claims databases. This position will be involved in collecting functional requirements, mapping, extracting, and integrating internal/external data sources and troubleshooting data quality and integrity issues. This role will develop and rely on the knowledge of clinical work and data flows and be able to translate ad-hoc customer requests of high complexity into a technical solution to retrieve data, analyze results, and provide timely reports. This role requires the ability to evaluate program interventions utilizing sound statistical techniques. The person in this role must have exceptional verbal and visual communication skills suitable to all levels of internal stakeholders and external audiences.

    Responsibilities And Duties:

    15% - THOUGHT LEADERSHIP & FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    Identifies and gathers detailed business requirements, creates technical documentation, clarifies, interprets, and translates specifications to develop appropriate analytics solutions for complex problems.

     

    Develops methodology for metrics needed for program evaluation utilizing sound, statistical techniques.

     

    Serves as the subject matter expert by providing expert knowledge in all analytics solution design and development. Identifies new opportunities to leverage data and to integrate data or applications to enhance business value.

     

    Works with executive and senior leadership to develop analytics product plans and convert business challenges into analytics solutions.

    5% - DATA MODELING & PREP

    Extracts data from various data sources including the electronic medical record, decision support, clinical quality, clinical registries, and claims databases; and understands architecture to allow for creative solutions to problems of complex difficulty.

     

    Coordinates with data owners to ensure data accessibility and quality.

    20% - DATA ANALYSIS & ADVANCED ANALYTICS

    Analyzes large, complex healthcare datasets to discover patterns, trends, and associations in support of operational and clinical objectives.

     

    Extracts clinical insights, solves complex business problems with analytics, and turns data into information.

     

    Applies advanced analytic and statistical solutions including data and text mining, pattern matching, machine learning, and forecasting.

     

    Has extensive knowledge and understanding of evidence-based standards and benchmarking; utilizes this information when appropriate.

    5% - REPORT & DASHBOARD CREATION

    Coordinates delivery of timely reports and data extracts, and automates programs as needed.

     

    Creates new metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support requirements and deliverables.

     

    Creates new data analysis techniques and visualizations to support complex enterprise challenges.

     

    15% - STORY TELLING / Communication

     

    Extracts clinical insights to solve complex business problems.

     

    Uses analytics to turn data into a compelling story of value to the organization.

     

    Tailors communication to both technical and non-technical audiences as necessary.

     

    Works to build consensus when needed.

    5% - DATA GOVERNANCE

    Actively promotes the correct interpretation of data.

     

    Promotes self-service skills to customers as applicable.

     

    Seen as an expert in data management, study design and analysis, and documentation methodology.

     

    Understands the importance of data accuracy and consistently uses good skills, such as tracking case counts and comparing to known results to promote data quality.

     

    Looks for and resolves data issues not limited to duplication, corruption, and missing elements.

     

    Develops and upholds data governance strategy for Clinical Enterprise Analytics team.

    5% - SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION

    Supports and maintains Clinical Enterprise analytical applications including Vizient, iCare, REDCap, and Qlik stream access and architecture.

     

    Leads system projects by collaborating with vendors, IT, Quality and clinical teams for the planning, design and implementation of new modules, system process changes, and application/server upgrades.

     

    May be asked to assess emerging technology for use within the organization and deliver recommendations to decision makers.

     

    Supports training and end-user adoption of available visualization tools.

     

    Helps data consumers navigate tools to efficiently access data.

     

    May serve as liaison to Enterprise Data Governance team.

     

    Also provides consultation to inter/intra-departmental personnel in the areas of study design, and technical support to team members for integration with various software applications.

    30% - LEADERSHIP

    Organizes, manages, and prioritizes day-to-day work for team of data analysts accounting for multiple simultaneous projects of varied complexity with planned deliverables.

     

    Directs and cultivates technical skills for the team and serves as mentor to less experienced analysts.

     

    Assists department manager with project delegation, production assignments, and performance assessment.

     

    Proposes, consults on, and enforces process guidelines for standard work including code documentation, data governance, application development lifecycle.

     

    Provides coaching and mentorship to team members as needed.

     

    Facilitates and/or conducts training and educational sessions for team members and customers.

    ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS

    Works both independently and as team member to develop analytic solutions.

     

    Organizes, manages, and prioritizes daily work accounting for multiple complex projects with planned deliverables.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's Degree: Computer and Information Science (Required)

    Additional Job Description:

    + degree in Computer Science, Health Information Systems, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field is required.

    + Master’s degree preferred.

    + Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

    + 10 years progressive experience in healthcare operations, healthcare data analysis or other analytical roles.

    + Experience with data mining tools, stats packages (e.g., Excel, SQL, SAS, R, Tableau, Qlik).

    SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

    + 7+ years utilizing SQL with a strong knowledge of SQL/relational database structures.

    + 10+ years of experience in business analytics, preferably in a healthcare setting.

    + Prior experience in data visualization tools like Qlik Sense, Tableau, PowerBI or SAS Visual Analytics.

    + Demonstrated experience using data to drive business decisions.

    + Demonstrated experience in writing data requirements and test specifications.

    + Proficient in the use of Excel and PowerPoint.
