    Description of Work Unit

    The School of Social Work at Colorado State University has made a continuous effort to develop and maintain a program that is responsive to three distinct, but related, interests:

    1. The profession of social work is represented by the Council on Social Work Education’s Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.

    2. The human services agencies and clients in the state, the region, the nation, and the globe; and

    3. The land-grant oriented mission and goals of Colorado State University.

    Position Summary

    HABIC (Human-Animal Bond in Colorado) in the School Social Work at Colorado State University seeks a passionate, motivated professional dog trainer. This person will be responsible for conducting behavioral screenings, training new volunteer teams, conducting final evaluations, and conducting follow up evaluations, the willingness to learn positive reinforcement training methods, self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude , the ability to work effectively with a team or independently with the willingness to work after business hours and some weekends.

    Required Job Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Zoology, Biology, Animal Behavior or related field

    + Minimum 2 years of experience handling dogs in a volunteer or professional setting, including identifying canine body language and behavior

    + Minimum 2 years applying customer service skills in a volunteer or professional setting

    + Demonstrated ability to teach and manage large groups of people in distracting environments

    + Demonstrated experience in record-keeping

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    + Previous experience working with non-profit and/or human animal bond or organizations

    + Previous experience working with volunteers
