Job Description Summary:
The Advanced Practice Providers (APP), Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) including Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Nurse Practitioner (NP), work in collaboration with the physician in the hospital-based inpatient setting working with critically ill patients, primarily in the Medical or Surgical Critical Care Departments. The APP will work 80 % of their time on the night shift.
This position requires a high level of independent clinical decision-making. The APRN or PA-C should demonstrate an advanced level of medial knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgement, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.
Responsibilities And Duties:
Works under direction and in consultation/collaboration with physician and may perform services authorized by the supervising/collaborating physician that are part of the physician's normal course of practice and expertise. Promotes quality outcomes and initiatives. Must have a Supervision Agreement (SA) or Standard Care Arrangement (SCA) with a physician in like practice. Practices within applicable state laws, appropriate boards, and in accordance with his/her/their SA/SCA and delineation of privileges.
The duties and responsibilities for the APP working in the Intensive Care Unit include but not are limited to obtaining and performing medical history and physical exams, record and interpret data (ex. Labs, diagnostic studies, progress notes, etc), formulate and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physician, maintain communication with patient and families regarding medical care and supportive need, perform technical skills as delegated by physician (ex. Central lines, arterial lines, intubations), serve as resource to the multidisciplinary team, actively participate in conference and educational opportunities, and perform other related job duties as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Additional Job Description:
Must have a Physician Assistant Certificate to Practice in Ohio and maintain this Certification from the State Medical Board of Ohio. Must have and maintain a current Certification from a national certifying body (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) and maintain this Certification . Must have graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program.
