The Manager of Retail Operations plays a critical role in defining and operationalizing Retail strategy and change initiatives. Responsibilities in this role will include identifying opportunities in the Retail model, defining strategic goals and building roadmaps to achieve them, and leading strategic initiatives and cross-functional change efforts to support our Retail Organization. This position provides a strategic thinker, possessing strong analytical and project management skills, the opportunity to play a leadership role in supporting a critical business area for CarMax’s continued growth.

Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the CarMax Home Office – Richmond, VA and have a Hybrid work arrangement

What you will do – Essential Responsibilities

Influence Retail strategy

+ Identify key opportunities in Retail organization

+ Support the scoping, opportunity sizing and feasibility studies of new initiatives

+ Provide input on prioritization of projects based on impact, feasibility & ROI

+ Support creation of Retail roadmap

Lead and coordinate multiple projects with high-complexity and interdependency; previous examples have included:

+ Testing and implementation of Retail pay changes

+ Staffing and scheduling improvements

+ Process improvement efforts within Retail

Track progress against Retail annual, quarterly and monthly goals and guide the process to evolve plans as appropriate

Maintain a communications strategy to inform** **all executives and stakeholders on initiative results as well as overall business performance

+ Establish governance to keep key stakeholders updated

+ Present to various leadership groups about project progress

Periodically conduct or facilitate ad hoc research to support** **special projects

Purpose of the role

The Retail Operations team supports the strategy and operations of our Retail business including traditional stores, cross functional stores, and our customer experience centers (CECs). This role is critical to ensuring we have the right operating model to support our Omnichannel strategy and serve our customers anytime and anywhere. The Retail Operations team ensures we set the right objectives, manage change thoughtfully, communicate to stakeholders effectively, and achieve our overarching strategic goals.

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about driving impact, can create structure to solve ambiguous problems, and are collaborative leaders excited to partner across multiple departments and levels.
