Job Overview:
Certified Ophthalmic Technicians provide patient care, diagnostic testing, and surgical assistance in ophthalmology clinics, ensuring compliance with medical protocols and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Perform diagnostic tests (retinoscopy, refractometry, visual fields, color vision tests, keratometry, slitlamp exams, etc.).
+ Conduct specialized clinics for diabetic retinopathy and Plaquenil screening, including patient education and follow-up.
+ Assist in minor surgeries and contact lens fittings.
+ Manage clinic operations, including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and organizing workflow with medical staff.
+ Educate patients on ophthalmic conditions and treatments.
+ Provide pre-op and post-op patient support, including intraocular lens measurements and follow-ups.
+ Support front desk operations, booking appointments, and administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
+ Experience: Minimum 2 years of Certified Ophthalmic Technician experience.
+ Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Certification: Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT®) from The Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO).
+ Additional Requirements: Continuing education to maintain certification.
+ Preferred Skills: Ability to perform A-scans, and Certified Retinal Angiography.
