Skylos Sports Medicine, a BluePearl Veterinary Partner in Frederick, MD is now hiring a Full-Time Registered Veterinary Technician!

**Schedule:** This is a Full-time position. We are open 8am-6pm, Monday through Friday.

**Pay:** $24.50 - $47.00 / hour

_This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool_** _._ **_Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience._

The vision for Skylos Sports Medicine was developed in 2015 by husband-and-wife Drs. Peter and Faith Lotsikas and is the realization of their united dream of providing personalized orthopedic and rehabilitation therapy for the canine companion. As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you will:

+ Prep, intubate and monitor surgical patients.

+ Scrub into surgical procedures

+ Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.

+ Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.

+ Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

+ Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients utilizing hands-free techniques.

+ Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.

+ Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.

+ Sedate/induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.

+ Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.

+ Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

+ **Active or eligible Maryland RVT license**

+ 1-2 years’ experience in veterinary medicine

+ Computer savvy (we are paperless!)

+ Interest or certification in low-stress patient handling

+ Venipuncture, IV catheter placement

+ Medication and fluid calculation proficiency

+ Interest in helping clients _and_ their pets
