Position Overview:
We are seeking a Belt Grinder to join our finishing team. This role is critical in preparing cast aluminum and brass parts for final inspection and downstream processes. The ideal candidate is experienced in operating stationary belt grinding equipment, understands surface finishing standards, and takes pride in craftsmanship and safety. This is a hands-on, physically active role essential to maintaining our high-quality standards in the foundry and finishing departments.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
+ Operate belt grinding machines to finish and smooth cast parts, removing gates, risers, and surface imperfections.
+ Inspect parts for flaws, cracks, and defects using visual and tactile checks.
+ Remove micro burrs, surface roughness, and apply cosmetic finishes as specified.
+ Monitor machine function and stop or report when issues arise.
+ Follow blueprints or finishing instructions to ensure dimensional and surface quality.
+ Set aside defective parts and properly rack and label finished goods.
+ Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on grinding equipment.
+ Work closely with casting, machining, and inspection teams to ensure production flow.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work area and comply with all safety protocols.
Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or GED preferred.
+ Previous experience with stationary belt grinders or other metal finishing equipment.
+ Ability to stand for long periods and lift or move cast parts up to 40 lbs.
+ Must be comfortable working in hot, dusty, noisy environments with proper PPE.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
+ Mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of metal part finishing standards.
+ Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
+ Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Schedule:
+ 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday
+ Fridays and weekends as needed depending on workload
