    Job Description:

We are searching for the best talent for a Service Component Engineer located in Santa Clara, CA.

Purpose: Service Component Engineer is responsible for managing the life cycle of spare parts and field replaceable units (FRUs) for surgical robotic technologies within the Service Solutions organization. This role encompasses collaborating with Research and Development (R&D) and Manufacturing teams to gather insights on life cycle management, ensuring service engineers and technicians are equipped with the necessary tools and resources for effective maintenance and repair. The engineer analyzes workflows and data trends to identify areas for improvement, contributing to enhanced operational efficiency and supporting the seamless integration of service solutions throughout the product life cycle.

The primary purpose of the Service Component Engineer is to drive the service strategy aimed at reducing the cost to serve while maintaining high levels of quality and customer satisfaction. By optimizing maintenance activities and implementing continuous improvement initiatives, this role enables the organization to minimize operational costs associated with spare parts management and service delivery. Through effective life cycle management, the engineer contributes to a streamlined service process, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and that technical support is readily available, which ultimately enhances service excellence within the surgical robotics sector.

In our organization, the Service Component Engineer can specialize in two critical areas: the life cycle of robotic parts or the management of equipment, fixtures, and tools used in service operations. Those focusing on parts life cycle will engage in projects that include levels of repair, test strategies, end-of-life management, service requirements, and parts service upgrade strategies. This specialization aims to ensure spare parts and field replaceable units (FRUs) are effectively managed and optimized throughout their life cycle, enhancing operational efficiency and service excellence. On the other hand, engineers concentrating on Repair Tools will develop and maintain our inventory of equipment, fixtures, test stations, and calibrated tools. These professionals will prioritize projects that innovate our service repair center infrastructure and enhance field service capabilities. By ensuring that repair tools and fixtures are well-maintained and optimized for performance, they play a vital role in supporting service operations and improving our overall service strategy. Both specialties contribute significantly to our commitment to quality and efficiency within the surgical robotics sector.

Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position will:

+ Assist in the design, development, maintenance, and improvement of service tools and methodologies, specifically targeting cost reduction and efficiency in spare parts management.

    + **Process Development and Improvement:**

+ Assess and refine workflows related to the maintenance and repair of surgical robots, focusing on optimizing life cycle management to reduce operational and service costs.

+ Implement continuous improvement initiatives by collecting feedback on existing maintenance processes and recommending standardized practices aimed at enhancing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

+ Capture, organize, and analyze critical information on spare parts and FRUs to inform data-driven decisions and lifecycle strategies.

    + **Collaboration and Teamwork:**

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance, to ensure efficient communication and alignment on life cycle management initiatives.

+ Lead small-scale projects focused on enhancing service operations related to FRUs and spare parts, fostering a cross-disciplinary approach to problem-solving and innovation.

+ **Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance:**

+ Ensure compliance with industry regulations and quality assurance standards throughout the service and maintenance operations of spare parts and FRUs.

+ Document and validate life cycle management processes and service activities to support compliance initiatives and enhance operational transparency.
