COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.
Programmer Developer II | Pay Range: $76,000.00 - $96,900.00
Programmer Developer I | Pay Range: $62,500.00 - $76,550.00

Are you a developer who thrives on solving real-world problems with automation? Do you want your code to do more than just run—do you want it to matter? At Southwest Power Pool (SPP), we’re looking for a Programmer/Developer who’s excited to modernize processes, build smart tools, and help reduce operational and compliance risks across the electric grid.
In this role, you’ll work with our Quality Control team to develop automation tools that support regulatory frameworks like SSAE-18 SOC1 and NERC CIP, while collaborating with teams across Cybersecurity, Compliance, and IT. You’ll help streamline manual processes, improve audit readiness, and contribute to the secure and efficient operations of one of the nation’s critical infrastructure organizations.
What You’ll Do
As a Programmer/Developer on the Quality Control team at SPP, you’ll use your technical expertise to support secure, compliant, and efficient operations by:
+ Designing, developing, and maintaining internal tools using technologies like Python (Django), SQL, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and Linux shell scripting to automate quality control activities and reduce manual effort.
+ Collaborating with cross-functional teams—including Quality Control, Cybersecurity, Compliance, and IT—to identify and implement automation opportunities that support regulatory frameworks such as SSAE-18 SOC1 and NERC CIP.
+ Ensuring audit readiness by building solutions that are secure, traceable, and well-documented, helping SPP meet strict compliance requirements.
+ Utilizing Docker and version control systems to deploy and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure applications in a development environment aligned with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
+ Participating in code reviews and contributing to the team’s technical best practices, ensuring high-quality, consistent, and compliant code.
+ Troubleshooting and supporting internal QC systems, with a focus on continuous improvement, risk reduction, and system reliability.
+ Creating and maintaining technical documentation that supports both internal development needs and external audit or regulatory inquiries.

To be successful as the Programmer Developer, we're looking for:
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an Information Technology-related field or equivalent job-related experience
+ Level II: Three (3) years of Information Technology Development/Support experience
+ Level I: No experience required
+ Effective working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Unix or Linux operating systems, application development and support, and database management systems
+ Proficient in one or more modern programming languages
+ Quality Control Preference – Proficiency in Python
+ Effective testing, troubleshooting, problem solving, and analytical skills
+ Effective written and oral communication skills
+ Effective working knowledge of SDLC and project life cycle methods and practices
+ Good customer service and organizational skills
+ Understanding of, compliance with, and enforcement of SPP Policies and Procedures
+ Strong desire to automate manual processes using technical solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Two (2) or more years applicable utility industry experience
+ Two (2) or more years applicable experience in automating manual processes using technical solutions
+ Experience with Django Python Web Framework, Linux commands and shell scripting, Docker, PyCharm IDE, CSS, HTML, JavaScript and SQL
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
+ This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Little Rock, Arkansas. Days and hours of workweek are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.
Travel Requirement:
+ This position requires minimal travel (approximately 10%)
