What You Will Do
L’Oréal USA is seeking a Director to join the fast-paced Reputational Issues & Crisis team within the Corporate Affairs & Engagement Department. In this role, the Director will help drive the company’s strategic communication initiatives by proactively addressing emerging societal trends and business challenges, while independently orchestrating the management of complex issues as they arise and directing crisis communications programs with precision and expertise.
Role & Responsibilities
+ Partner with the Vice President of Reputational Issus & Crisis and other team members to strengthen, enhance and protect L’Oréal’s image and reputation among its key audiences in the U.S. and protect the company’s license to operate.
+ Provide strategic communications counsel to corporate leaders and 30+ brand teams to solve business problems and seize communications and stakeholder engagement opportunities that arise.
+ Develop and implement sophisticated, stakeholder-centric communication strategies to effectively navigate special situations, sensitive topics, and potential reputational challenges.
+ Build and maintain strategic networks of internal and external stakeholders, locally and globally, to advance key initiatives and to ensure cross-functional alignment.
+ Draft messages on a broad range of business-critical topics and counsel the broader organization.
+ Manage the administration of the company’s brand ambassador values matching program, along with its key vendors and systems.
+ Oversee and enhance media and social conversation monitoring capabilities for the company, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the stakeholder landscape and data-driven insights for decision-making.
+ Direct the activities of external communications agencies and vendors, as needed.
+ Support ongoing crisis preparedness and crisis management training programs for brand and cross-functional communication teams, ensuring organizational readiness.
Qualifications/Requirements
What We Are Looking For:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Communications, Public Affairs or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
+ 7-10 minimum years of accumulated experience in crisis communication, policy communications, litigation communications, Public Affairs and/or multi-faceted corporate communications role, ideally with a multinational company or crisis communications agency.
+ Knowledge of and strong understanding of the political process at the federal, state, and local levels.
+ Strong executive presence and communication/presentation skills to engage senior leaders.
+ Strong strategic thinking skills and business acumen.
+ Ability to work independently, be proactive, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced and results-driven environment preferred.
+ Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously with evolving deadlines.
+ Previous experience supporting litigation communication campaigns
