Design the Code Behind Mission-Critical Systems

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a **Sr. Staff Embedded Software Engineer** to support advanced aerospace and defense initiatives. As a key technical leader, you’ll be responsible for designing and delivering sophisticated embedded software systems used in missile defense, aviation, and next-generation weapons technologies.

In this role, you’ll lead full lifecycle software development efforts—from architecture and integration to testing and field support—bringing mission-critical systems to life with accuracy, security, and reliability.

_This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license._

What You’ll Do

+ Develop and support embedded software products, working from technical specifications to functional applications.

+ Perform deep technical analysis, problem resolution, and operational integration of real-time software systems.

+ Maintain, debug, and optimize performance of embedded systems used in defense applications.

+ Collaborate with SEIT teams to translate high-level system requirements into effective software design and architecture.

+ Drive concepts of operation (CONOPS), external interface definitions, and system sequences.

+ Design algorithms and author technical documentation including software designs, use cases, and functional design specs.

+ Contribute to proposal efforts and long-term product strategy.

Basic Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in a **STEM discipline** with 12+ years of experience, **Master’s with 10+** , or **PhD with 8+** .

+ Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

+ Proficient in **C programming** and **object-oriented design** .

+ Full software development lifecycle experience: requirements, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.

+ Experience integrating firmware/software into complex, **multi-threaded real-time embedded systems** .

+ Strong knowledge of **RTOS design** , secure coding, and **ARM architecture** .

+ Proficient with Agile development tools: **Git** , **Bitbucket** , **Jira** .

+ Must hold or be eligible to obtain a **U.S. DoD Secret security clearance** .

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience in **missile defense systems** : launch, targeting, or fire control.

+ In-depth knowledge of **hardware/software integration** and testing methodologies.

+ Hands-on experience with **missile or system-level testing** .

+ Familiarity with **PowerPC** , **FPGA development (VHDL/Verilog)** , and real-time system constraints.

+ Strong communication and leadership skills for effective collaboration in cross-functional environments.

**Pay Details:** $49.85 to $63.09 per hour
