Job Summary
As a **Development Engineer** , you will be responsible for developing Reuse and Salvage Guidelines and publish them in SIS. This entails working with the Internal product groups, dealers, and suppliers to help develop new guidelines to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the customers and promote sustainability. Additionally, this role also manages R&S Parts Assurance Program extended coverage claims and ad-hoc strategic and continuous improvement projects.
Additional Info:
+ This position requires the selected candidate to work full-time in the Peoria, IL office.
+ This position may be required to travel in the US or internationally to collaborate with the dealers, product groups and vendors to develop new guidelines.
+ Travel can be approximately 10% to 30% of working time.It may fluctuate from year to year depending on total projects scope.
+ This position does not offer relocation assistance.
What You Will Do:
+ Develop Reuse and Salvage guidelines collaborating with product groups, dealers, and vendors
+ Warranty Claims Administration for the Parts Assurance Program.
+ Review claims submitted and drive prompt decision making to close claims within 60 days from date of submission.
+ Ensure program claims acceptance stays in acceptable levels to support sustained adoption of the assurance program.
+ Review open guidelines request and collaborate with Product Groups to create business case and assign appropriate priorities working with the leadership
What You Have (Basic Requirements):
+ **Education:** Position requires a bachelor or a technical degree; or 4+ years equivalent work experience (mechanic/technician or technical writing)
+ **Problem Solving:** Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
+ **Technical Excellence:** Effectively performs the technical job aspects, continuously building knowledge and keeping up to date on technical and procedural job components.
+ **Customer / Dealer Focus:** Solicits customer satisfaction feedback and acts on improvement opportunities. Researches and verifies customer needs and expectations.
+ **Service Excellence:** Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.
+ **Cat Tools Working Knowledge** - PTC Creo , Teamcenter, SIS (Arbor text Content Management), PRWB (BoM), EDS (Engineering Data System), Visview
+ **SIS Authoring** (Arbor text Management System) - tool used to publish developed guidelines
What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Skills):
+ Relevant work experience developing new products or technical procedures
+ Requires an understanding of basic Caterpillar engineering practices (prints, 1E specifications, EDS data)
+ Capable of using a variety of complex systems/software to research product structures
+ Experience in a mechanic/technician role
+ Proven communications skills
+ Proven project management skills

Summary Pay Range:
$87,480.00 - $131,280.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
