Research Assistant Professor, Source Project; 10 mo. 3-year term (renewable)

We seek applicants with a Ph.D. in a Humanities or Social Science discipline (or from an

interdisciplinary doctoral program) who have a commitment to interdisciplinary and

experiential learning to join the Source Project, Binghamton University's distinctive first-year

research program in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The position begins August, 2025.

PhD in hand by appointment required.

The Source Project is a sequence of two, four-credit courses over the fall and spring semesters

(research streams), where first-year students have the opportunity to conduct authentic

research and generate new results. Students will ask questions and seek answers, guided by

faculty who can help identify topics and appropriate research methods. Students will produce

original projects that express their findings and learn how to communicate the relevance of what

they have found with classmates as well as others in the University's Research Days poster

    sessions.

The successful candidate will teach two research streams per year, either two sections of one

theme or two differently themed streams. Each stream is capped at 25 students. This amounts to

a 2/2 teaching load with a maximum of 50 students each semester. Each course carries

associated departmental rubrics and general education designations. In addition, the Research

Assistant Professor will be responsible for advising students, a dynamic research agenda, and

Research center, and the Division of Academic Affairs.

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Requirements:

+ PhD in a Humanities or Social Science discipline (or from an interdisciplinary doctoral

    program) by August 22, 2025.
