Position: Community Outreach & Patient Education Assistant

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate pre-med student to assist in community outreach and patient education efforts for patients with conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and those receiving Botox therapy. You'll work directly with a Physiatrist to develop materials, coordinate community programs, and support families in navigating rehabilitation services.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Assist in the development and distribution of educational resources tailored to patients and caregivers

+ Support planning and coordination of community outreach programs, workshops, and clinics

+ Help maintain communication with patients and families, offering guidance and support under supervision

+ Shadow clinical consultations (as appropriate) to deepen understanding of physical medicine and rehabilitation

Ideal Candidate:

+ Current undergraduate student (preferably in a pre-med or health sciences track)

+ Strong interest in physical medicine, neurology, or pediatrics

+ Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

+ Compassionate, dependable, and eager to learn

+ Bilingual or multilingual candidates are a plus!

Qualifications:

Current undergraduate student on a pre-med or health sciences track (Biology, Neuroscience, Psychology, etc.)

Cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher (strong academic record required)

Demonstrated interest in physical medicine, rehabilitation, neurology, or pediatrics

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a professional healthcare setting

Comfortable interacting with patients and families from diverse backgrounds

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite (experience with Canva or presentation tools is a plus)

Previous experience in community service, healthcare settings, or working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable
