    Job Summary

    We are currently seeking a senior level architect to lead the Architectural Design Group for TYLin’s Buildings Sector. The ideal candidate will be located in the Western New York or Finger Lakes Region and demonstrate proficiencies in business development, mentoring of staff, and performing detailed phases of design architectural work for projects of moderate size and complexity. The right candidate must be competent in all conventional aspects of architecture and constructability and be capable of planning and conducting tasks in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard architectural techniques, procedures, and criteria. This position will require collaboration with design teams within our Global Infrastructure Brands, as well as with the related Dar Group architecture and project management brands of Perkins & Will and Currie & Brown.

     

    Responsibilities & Qualifications

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Works with the Sector Leader, Sector Managers, Growth Leaders, and Project Managers to develop strategies for cultivating prospects and obtaining work.

    + Builds and maintains client relationships.

    + Engages with Sector Leader and Sector Manager in making go/no-go decisions on project pursuits.

    + Manages pursuits, including teaming, proposal writing, and preparation of formal interview presentations.

    + Mentors architectural staff in aspects of design, project management, construction administration, business development, and community involvement to facilitate their continued professional growth.

    + Serves as TYLin architectural discipline lead, coordinating with clients and engineering disciplines to develop creative and constructable design solutions to a range of public and private projects.

    + Leads multi-discipline design teams and client interaction in a Prime role, and occasionally leads the TYLin architectural team as a subcontractor to outside design architects.

    + Determines client requirements and develops specifications, drawings, instructions and related documents, following construction and government standards, as well as the policies and standards set forth in the Firm’s Quality Management System using design software and drawing tools.

    + Reviews vendor drawings for major components. Evaluates need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations. Prepares and presents reports supporting design efforts.

    + Ensures that production of drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.

    + Plans, schedules, coordinates, and oversees the work of architectural staff who assist with particular projects.

    + Demonstrates advanced knowledge within architectural core competencies such as: programming; schematic design; code research; design development; construction documents; building cost analysis; specifications & materials research; document checking & coordination.

    QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

    + Bachelor’s Degree (5 year program) or Master’s Degree in Architecture, and 15-20+ years relevant experience.

    + Must be NCARB Certified.

    + A minimum of 10 years of leading multi-discipline design teams on buildings projects.

    + Current or recent supervision and leadership of other architects and designers.

    + Proficient in utilizing various computer software packages and automated architectural and design equipment to include Revit and BIM software.

    + Demonstrated track record of superior client management.

    + Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.

    + Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges.

    + High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.

    + Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.

    _TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $130,000-$160,000 annually for this position and local market.
