Job Summary
The Oregon Wine Research Institute is seeking a Communication and Outreach Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Oregon Wine Research Institute ( OWRI ) at Oregon State University is dedicated to strengthening research capacity and disseminating results to support the commercial wine industry in Oregon, which includes grape and wine production and business/economics. The mission of the OWRI is to develop and manage an interdisciplinary program including the fields of viticulture, enology, and wine economics/business; facilitate partnerships and collaboration with other academic partners and industry; and communicate research and information through outreach.
The Communication and Outreach Manager is responsible for keeping diverse audiences well-informed about the OWRI programs and projects through varied outreach mechanisms, including website(s), newsletters, trade shows, social media, etc. This position produces and delivers audience-appropriate written and multimedia material for communicating information about OWRI and its program/project outputs to industry members, employees, news media and other key audiences. This position will also manage external outreach events and coordinate internal OWRI member meetings in conjunction with the OWRI Director.

What You Will Need
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism, Arts, Communications, or related field.
+ 1 year of experience in marketing and communications or related field
+ Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, such as the ability to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
+ Understanding of design principles as related to the development of marketing materials.
+ Experience using Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator, or similar applications
+ Demonstrate strong decision-making skills, including setting priorities against established criteria and managing multiple projects/activities/deadlines
+ Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with varied audiences such as faculty, students, and industry
+ Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills, including copywriting and editing
+ Proficient user of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
+ Experience in managing websites and other digital outreach platforms
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
What We Would Like You to Have
+ Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism, Arts, Communications
+ 3 years of experience in marketing and communications or related field
+ Experience working within the Oregon University System or another higher education institution
+ Prior experience in producing information and managing social media outlets
+ Prior experience developing communication or marketing strategy for an organization/unit
+ Prior experience in viticulture, enology, wine business, or other agribusiness sectors
+ Experience with design software (Adobe Creative Cloud applications, Canva)
+ Experience using or familiarity with digital marketing tools and systems, such as web content management systems, project management software and digital e-newsletter platforms
+ Experience with photography and/or videography
+ Demonstrated experience working within a brand system
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Positions occasionally require working irregular hours and statewide travel

Recommended Full-Time Salary Range $55-000 - $68,000
