    Opportunity

     

    The Director of Operations (Campus) will oversee all manufacturing plants on the Kohler, WI campus. This role will be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness, maintaining product quality and driving continuous improvement initiatives across all facilities. The Director of Operations (Campus) will lead a diverse team and work collaboratively with various departments to achieve Kohler’s strategic objectives. This position will provide for the achievement of annual and long-term growth strategies and meet the productive asset objectives.

     

    Primary Objectives

    Strategic Planning:

    + Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute the operational strategies aligned with the organization’s: 1-, 3- and 5-year goals

    + Participate in budgeting and resource allocation to support operational initiatives.

    Operational Oversight

    + Oversee operations across multiple manufacturing plants and support departments ensuring adherence to the Supply Chain and Operations strategic initiatives, production schedules and operational targets.

    + Ensure adherence to key performance indicators (KPI’s) to measure operational effectiveness and drive improvements.

    + Safety, Sustainability and Compliance

    + Maintain World class level RIR

    + Aggressively reduce environmental footprint to meet the corporate goal of 3% annually.

    + Maintain all facilities DNR, EPA, OSHA and/or other compliance regulations

    Quality Management:

    + Establish and maintain quality standards for all product lines in all plants across Kohler Campus

    + Oversee quality assurance initiatives and ensure compliance with industry regulations and certifications

    Delivery:

    + Execute on targeted schedule attainment & achievement while meeting or beating market benchmarks

    Cost:

    + Deliver Direct Operating Income, identify and execute cost per equivalent unit initiative to show year over year improvement

    Continuous Improvement:

    + Drive a culture of continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies.

    + Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement best practices to enhance productivity and efficiency.

    NPD:

    + Execute NPD schedule on time and capital plan implementation and spend targets

    People:

    + Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and accountability

    + Conduct regular performance evaluations (MaxP’s) and provide feedback to leadership team; coach, mentor and develop associates in accordance with their Talent Cards and competency gaps

    + Drive associate engagement and retention initiatives

    + Optimize the utilization of talent across each plant and the overall campus.

    Materials Management:

    + Oversee materials procurement, inventory management, and supply chain logistics to ensure timely availability of resources for production

    + Collaborate with suppliers to maintain quality and cost-effectiveness in materials sourcing.

    Specific Responsibilities

    + Develop and recommend short- and long-range campus-related goals in alignment with the Supply Chain and Operations strategies

    + Oversee the manufacturing methods, standards, techniques, and plans for all Kohler Campus Manufacturing Plants to ensure that production at the lowest cost occurs consistent with established specifications as to quality, quantity, and delivery schedules.

    + Oversee the development of production schedules, economic inventory levels, and control procedures for all Kohler Campus Manufacturing Plants to meet sales forecasts.

    + In coordination with Human Resources Leadership, develop and administer people initiativesto engage associates and decrease turnover throughout campus; coordinate on talent strategies and long-term plans to ensure succession planning is in place and that leadership development occurs.

    + Maintain a positive relationship with union leadership, work to obtain productivity gains and drive profit margins across campus; ensure that all of campus manufacturing complies with the collective bargaining agreement, facilitate conversations to improve the company’s flexibility; partakes in negotiations of new collective bargaining agreements.

    + Oversee the development and establishment of local purchasing policies and procedures that are consistent with approved Company policies; the preparation of annual budget recommendations – administrative, capital and production expense in line with the Supply Chain and Operations strategy.

    + Effectively communicate established objectives, policies and procedures; gather and provide recommendations for modifying established policies, proceduresand objectives.

    + Administer, in cooperation with other Group and Corporate Management, the coordination of approved plans for campus growth and development, updating leadership on progress being made in comparison with established objectives, budgets, and schedules for various programs and projects.

    Skills/Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Manufacturing or a related field is required, or four (4) years of manufacturing plant leadership experience will be accepted in lieu of the degree.

    + A Master’s Degree is preferred.

    + A minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of successful operations experience in manufacturing management. Former experience managing multiple plants and support areas required.

    + Strong knowledge of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies,

    + Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

    + Proven ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to drive operational excellence.

    + Experience in lean manufacturing, modern quality systems, inventory controls, labor efficiency, capital & material asset management preferred.

    + Financial acumen including the development of financial plans, budgets and a thorough understanding of P&L required..

    + Prior experience working with labor unions in the United States is strongly preferred including experience with negotiations.

    + Proficiency in project management and problem-solving techniques.

    _The salary range for this position is $166,400 - $216,850. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k._
