**Looking for a rewarding career as a Primary Care Physician serving Minnesotans**
Ready to make a difference providing treatment to some of Minnesota’s most vulnerable adults? Tired of hours spent in prior authorization calls and inbox messages? Wish you could spend more time treating patients instead of rushing through short appointment slots? Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) has an opportunity for a skilled and compassionate primary care physician to provide quality care as part of a multidisciplinary team. As the primary care physician, you will be managing the medical needs of complex patients at our freestanding psychiatric hospital collaboratively with psychiatric practitioners, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other mental health professionals.
As part of the Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) administration; Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Services (MHSATS) division, AMRTC is a 96-bed modern tertiary care teaching hospital, which provides hospital care to adults with mental illness and substance use disorders (often co-occurring), as well as other complex health conditions. AMRTC is the hub of a state psychiatric care network including 7 smaller hospitals and a wide range of community-based resources. Multidisciplinary teams provide care guided by evidence-based practices and a person-centered treatment philosophy.
In this role, you will:
+ Provide primary care medical services to patients.
+ Actively participate in the functioning of the medical staff organization.
+ Interact with and support Primary Care APRNs.
+ Participate in and assist in development of educational activities for the medical staff.
*This role includes occasional coverage or support at smaller sites near the Twin Cities metro area, as well as the option for travel to rural sites in greater Minnesota.*
Patients at AMRTC have longer lengths of stay than most community hospitals, affording the opportunity to delve into complex behavioral and physical health concerns and help set the patients we serve on a trajectory toward wellness. Because AMRTC is a freestanding psychiatric hospital and not a medical hospital, this position focuses on typical primary care needs such as chronic disease management and minor acute medical problems. As such, candidates are not required to have recent hospital-based medicine experience.
