Job Description

Executes clay or digital models by developing aesthetic surfaces that meet time and quality requirements as directed by Sculpting Leadership. Contributes to problem solving by collaborating with design and engineering stakeholders. Mentors’ others in efficient methods for developing methods, integrating new technologies, and creating workflows. Exhibits a safety mindset while identifying, taking ownership, and resolving safety concerns. Develops high quality surfaces for digital or clay models throughout the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP). Accounts for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results without compromising the integrity, safety, and quality of work. Supports surface releases that meet design approval, production engineering, and data release requirements. Adheres to common GM Global Design processes and best practices. Maintains knowledge of current trends in design, technology, production methods, and materials. Mentors’ others in achieving GVDP modeling standards and technical ability. Attends appropriate program related meetings as defined by Sculpting Leadership. Performs accurate assessment of surface quality (clay or digital). Adheres to corporate data management processes (TeamCenter, SharePoint, etc.) and communication systems (timekeeping, email, etc.). Asks for and anticipates customer needs and makes all business decisions to support those needs. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days Inoffice, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.

Additional Job Description

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Industrial design or related field of study and 10 years of experience as a Digital Sculptor, Designer, or related occupation. Ten years of experience with: Estimating accurate timing requirements for Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) model execution; Utilizing creative digital sculpting, clay sculpting, and milling equipment to develop surfaces that meet design and engineering specifications; Sketching interpretations and translating design input into 3D models; Production and

manufacturing processes applicable to surface development including: Die pull, Draft, Graining, Parting Line Gap, Flush, Formability requirements, and Vehicle packaging and integration requirements; and Participating in clay and digital model execution.
