    + This role is a member of the Day of Departure team within the Information Technology organization

    + Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and improving the codebase.

    + Writes, tests, and documents technical work products (e.g., code, scripts, processes) according to organizational standards and practices

    + Consistently produces good quality technical work products that are clear, concise, tested, and easily understood by others

    + Efficiently debugs design-time and run-time problems and effectively identifies problems in dependencies or caused by interactions with other services

    + Designs new implementations and provides enhancements to existing architectures, maintaining reliability, resiliency, security, and performance

    + Identifies and corrects issues with system components affecting operational reliability, stability and performance based on observable telemetry

    + Understands and follows secure coding practices to avoid known potential vulnerabilities and actively looks for vulnerabilities during code reviews

    + Identifies opportunities for automation that improve team performance and raises them to the team

    + Consistently identifies and capitalizes on opportunities for simplification

     

    All you'll need for success

    Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

    + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training

    + 2+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale solutions in production environments

    Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

    + Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training

    + Airline Industry experience

    Skills, Licenses & Certifications

    + Experience with the following technologies:

    + J2EE technologies – Java 8+ and JDBC

    + Database and persistence frameworks: Oracle

    + Cloud-based development: Azure Cloud

    + Cloud Resources- Azure: App Service, PostgreSQL

    + Web Services: REST/SOAP (JSON/WSDL/XML)

    + Frameworks: Spring Framework, Spring Boot

    + Front-end: Angular 8+, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS

    + Build/deployment tools: Maven, Gradle, Git, Junit, Mockito

    + Other Dev Ops Toolchain: GitHub

    + IntelliJ and Visual Studio Code IDEs

    + Object-oriented design techniques and principles

    + Agile methodologies such as SCRUM

    + Ability to concisely convey ideas verbally, in writing, in code, and in diagrams

    + Experience in Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM

    + Experience in DevOps Toolchain methodologies, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment

    + Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environments
