BJC Institute of Health has a full-time opportunity for a Technologist Specialist to work in the Blood Bank. Must be ASCP Registered with at least 2 years of experience. Come join the team in a learning environment with challenging experiences at our Academic campus.
+ Day, 8-10 hour shifts possible
+ Weekend rotation; Call rotation
+ 1 Winter and 1 Summer Holiday rotation

Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Provide technical support and expertise in a specialized area of laboratory testing. Performs testing and processing of routine and complex testing on blood and other specimens as well as acts as a resource person to staff. Assumes delegated responsibilities in specific areas of the laboratory as assigned, while acting as a resource person to the staff.
Responsibilities
+ Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Assesses technical and or instrument problems, including quality control and abnormal findings, evaluate possible solutions and chooses an appropriate course of action to solve the problem.
+ Operates all equipment/instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
+ Coordinates with other specialists, coordinators and supervisors to schedule and assess competence of staff.
+ Teaches and/or trains new and established staff members and students in routine and specialized techniques used. Participates in competency assessment of staff.
