Summary
The Facility Operations Manager I oversees all plant operations, including drum pumping, drum dumping, tank farm operations, truck offloading/loading, and wastewater treatment. The role involves managing multiple shifts and teams within the facility, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Manager also works closely with the General Manager to optimize plant throughput and profitability while overseeing staff development, safety compliance, and waste routing.
Key Responsibilities
Manage plant operations, including drum pumping, drum dumping, tank farm operations, truck offloading/loading, wastewater treatment, and fuel blending.
Oversee the efficient operation of multiple departments and shifts.
Supervise, mentor, and develop Operations Supervisors and Plant Foremen.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Health and Safety SOPs, holding employees accountable for adherence.
Collaborate with the General Manager on personnel functions, including hiring, development, and termination.
Develop and review daily production goals and ensure their execution.
Analyze and review facility profitability with the General Manager.
Maintain a clean work environment and ensure proper waste routing and management.
Ensure compliance with required permits and regulatory standards.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance plant performance and throughput.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field (preferred).
5 to 7 years of relevant experience in plant operations.
DOT training (required).
Experience & Skills:
Supervisory and leadership experience.
Proficiency in multiple site-specific operations, including drum pumping, tank farm operations, and wastewater treatment.
Strong knowledge of safety protocols, waste management, and regulatory compliance.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment with strong initiative and management skills.
Experience in setting production goals and ensuring their execution.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for up to 7 hours per day and walk for 1 hour.
Occasional reaching (1-33%), and minimal lifting (0-10 lbs.).
Prolonged computer usage (Constantly 67-100%).
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Travel
Less than 10%.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has full supervisory authority, including decision-making in hiring, training, scheduling, performance appraisals, and corrective actions.
Hours & Pay
Full-time, with typical hours during standard business operations.
Pay will be commensurate with experience.
