    We are looking for a motivated and experienced Software Development Manager to help develop and build a state-of-the-art Digital Supply chain to transform raw digital video/audio/sub-title assets sent by 3P Partners (like Warner Bros, NBC, HBO) and transform them into delightful playable experiences for Prime Video Streaming customers. This team owns the end-to-end Media Asset Workflow which includes Media Enrichment ( adding Ads Cue points, enabling Scene understanding Tech), Quality , Encoding and Publishing into the PV Catalog.

     

    This position will work deeply with engineering teams on the design, implementation, and drive the delivery of large technology initiatives across Prime Video Supply Chain organization. As an SDM, you will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers in designing and building innovative software solutions for our customers. You will drive operational excellence across complex architectures. You also need to be an excellent translator between various parts of the business and the technical team you lead. Additionally, this role will be collaborating and contributing to the business, legal, or marketing side of a product.

     

    Key job responsibilities

     

    - You own defining team's charter, tech vision while partnering effectively with customers and stakeholders.

     

    - You establish a roadmap and successfully deliver software that executes that vision; making short vs long-term decisions defining clear goals and objectives.

     

    - You independently manage a software development team owning cross-functional software. You hire the right mix of SDEs to accomplish team goals.

     

    - You define metrics to measure team development progress, customer experience, and operational excellence.

    - Your team has customer engagement mechanisms, adheres to SLAs, and effectively manages software operations

    A day in the life

    A typical day starts with a daily Stand up, design reviews on upcoming project deliverables, program reviews to touch base with Product/Program leaders and 1:1s with your team to help them in their career growth. Twice a year Operational planning to develop 3 yr vision documents with Product leaders.

    About the team

    You will join Prime Video's Media Experiences and Enrichment Team within the Content Foundations organization. The team consists of software engineers of varied experience and a common passion to make Prime Video delightful for our customers! We love to have fun , work hard and make history!

    Basic Qualifications

    - 3+ years of engineering team management experience

     

    - 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

     

    - 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

     

    - 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

     

    - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

     

    - Experience partnering with product or program management teams

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

     

    - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
