    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Serves as a service point contact between Library staff and the security team.

    + Works under the direction of the Library Security Director to assist in the operation of the various components of the library’s security program.

    + Encompasses the library’s security personnel, video surveillance equipment, card access, and intrusion alarms.

    + Patrols the building daily to support the Building Operations team in identifying issues.

    + Serves as responder for building fire alarms, facilities disasters & medical emergencies.

    + Assists in scheduling Temporary Library Security Officers.

    + Serves as liaison to Campus Police and administration duties of the library’s Security Office.

    + Must have the ability to meet and communicate with students, faculty, staff, and the public in a courteous, tactful and effective manner.

    + Must be able to effectively communicate university and library expectations to these populations in order to encourage compliance with guidelines, policies, and standards.

    Minimum Experience / Education:

    Required Minimum Qualifications:

    High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in security, enforcement, or protection work. May require valid N.C. driver’s license.

    University Preferred Qualifications:

    High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in security, enforcement, or protection work. May require valid N.C. driver’s license.

    Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

    + 5 years of law enforcement or security related experience and/or has completed Basic Law Enforcement training or an equivalent training experience.

    + Good interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work independently are essential; also be a vital team player.

    + Experience with and ability to utilize de-escalation skills.

    + Experience with incident reporting and documentation.

    + Previous administrative clerical experience preferred.

    + Experience and ability to multi-task and work.

    + Experience with chain of command

    + Experience with Customer Service.

    + Strong attention to details.
