How you will make an impact!
This role is responsible for the development and delivery of Electron Microscopy training for internal and external customers. We will deliver technical training to a broad audience both in the classroom and at our customer sites. We encourage and empower learners with highly technical content and practical hands-on experience. Make our learners able to identify, repair and improve the Electron Microscopes use at Thermo Fisher. Our learners will consist of Field Service Engineers, R&D specialists, Operations Engineers, and users. All of these will have different knowledge levels, from newbies to senior specialists.
We develop new technologies and teach job skills through training, practice, and e-learning.
As a technical training team, we will develop close relations with colleagues from the Global Tech Support, Customer Service, R&D/PG, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Customer Training. Coordinate and handle ad hoc learning solutions, either in our own training lab or on-site at customer sites.
What you will do:
+ Deliver skills-based classroom training and interactive hands-on training
+ Manage the learning curves of the trainees through individual interactions and classroom activities
+ Use different didactic skills to transfer knowledge towards the trainees, either through teacher-centered or facilitating learning environments
+ Translate high technical information into clear and understandable content
+ Transform teacher-centered classroom training into e-learning
+ Mentor trainees using practical skills with hands-on exercises on live tools
+ Provide work instructions for aid during fieldwork and training exercises
+ Use skills-based training to get trainees quickly up to speed
How will you get here?
Education
Bachelor's or equivalent experience in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or other relevant degree highly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
+ Minimum 7+ years as a Facilitator and organizer of on-the-spot training; or field service engineering experience
+ Ability to build out-of-the-box solutions to deliver training
+ Hands-on mentality; love high-end technical sophisticated tools and problems
+ Proficient in English (verbal and writing), other language skills are an asset
+ Strong communication skills; know how to bring colleagues, learners, and engineers together in a multifaceted environment
+ Understand how people learn and capable of envisioning yourself as the learner
+ Self-starter who is highly productive without supervision
+ Highly communicative and able to explain difficult material
+ Able to present in front of a larger audience
+ Energize, empower, encourage, convince, and motivate learners
You will work in:
+ A constantly evolving environment; interacting with Field Service, R&D, Operations, and Engineering
+ A multifaceted and creative learning environment, using skills-based learning, remote learning, virtual classes, and webinars. Build ways to transfer skills to the learners; from classroom training to remote mentoring
+ A high-tech training center, with phenomenal opportunities to develop and implement new ways of learning
+ Incidental travel to customer sites to deliver “a-la-carte” training requests
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Oregon is $84,400.00–$126,550.00.
