The Staff Accountant position, which reports directly to the Assistant Controller, is responsible for ensuring transactional accuracy and consistent applications of accounting principles, for both IMC and its majority owned subsidiaries so to guarantee error free accounting and timely GAAP financial reporting. The Staff Accountant position should also provide assistance to the Assistant Controller and Director of Finance with special projects on a as needed basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support the Assistant Controller and Director of Finance with month & year-end closings, ensuring that all processes are governed by procedures with sound internal controls and are completed in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Accumulate job cost data from timesheets, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of information as they impact project costing. Assist with the day-to-day maintenance of online payroll and HR technology provider.
• Assist accounts payable and project accountants as needed with posting of invoices and addressing subcontractor compliance issues.
• Perform account reconciliations and analyses; prepare journal entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Manage the preconstruction agreement billings.
• Perform project accounting duties for the Special Project Division. This includes but is not limited to resolving subcontractor inquiries, communicating non-compliance issues, preparing timely payment to subcontractors and assisting with the compiling of the Owner bill.
• Maintain confidentiality of all financial and payroll information.
• Perform other duties as assigned
+ BS Degree in Accounting
+ 3+ years of experience as a staff accountant. Prior experience in construction preferred but not required
+ Excellent communication, planning, organization, problem-solving and analysis skills
+ Experience with monthly closings and creating financial statement
Software Skills
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office products with a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
• Experience with Sage Software (TimberScan/Timberline) preferred.
• Experience with Construction Management Software (Textura, Procore) is a plus.
