Description
OVERVIEW
Cadrex is searching for a Materials Manager to oversee procurement, usage and flow/movement of materials for maximum efficiency, lowest cost possible, and to meet job specification needs for plastics products as required by customer specifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Responsible for the total cost management process, including management of shipping and receiving function, supplier quotations, purchase order creation and placement, cost reduction actions, negotiations, inventory, and cost reporting
+ Understands the total cost make-up of the material/parts being purchased and utilizes this knowledge to proactively manage the supplier
+ Leader for the specific commodities assigned, works with Management to form a cross functional team which will put in place commodity specific strategies and act on the specific strategy elements. Ensures shipping and receiving support materials flow through efficiently and effectively, within time constraints. Provides updates to sales and production teams regarding material delivery timelines and schedules
+ Works with Production and Scheduling to ensure timely delivery of material and expedite the supplier materials per customer requirements. Delivers work orders to production floor
+ Works with Technical and Quality Engineering team to ensure supplier quality is managed to meet customer requirements
+ Drives cost reduction initiatives with suppliers through the bid process, supplier improvement team, lean teams, and active negotiations
+ Provides reports to management as requested
+ Ensures qualified staff for all shipping and receiving staff
+ Drives the implementation of Vendor Managed Inventory programs, ensures common corporate processes are utilized
+ Actively manages inventories down, while maintaining a “zero out of supply” condition with all responsible part numbers
+ Understands basic material/part requirements, utilizes knowledge to manage material/part number aggressively with industry and supply base
+ Understands the basic industry trends, works proactively with suppliers to manage the industry change in both supply and cost to benefit
+ Understands Production systems, utilizes system to aggressively manage the basic responsibilities of supply quality, and cost
+ Works with the suppliers and various departments to ensure supplier payments and credits are processed appropriately
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ 3+ years’ previous materials handling experience preferred
+ Previous supervisory experience preferred
+ Strong numeracy and analytical skills
+ Good problem-solving and time management skills
+ Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
+ Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles
EDUCATION
+ Associate/Technical degree preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT
+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
