    THE POSITION

    The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is actively seeking individuals with a background in underground mining to join their team. In this pivotal role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that operations within underground industrial minerals mines comply with established regulations.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    In this position, you will be responsible for inspecting underground industrial minerals mines and commercial operations to ensure adherence to legal standards governing these facilities. Your duties will include conducting thorough investigations into serious mining accidents, identifying their causes, recommending preventive measures, and overseeing mine rescue and recovery efforts. Regular technical inspections will be a key part of your role, as you work to enforce compliance with underground industrial minerals mining laws. Additionally, you will possess the authority to take decisive action by ordering the withdrawal of mine employees in situations where there is an imminent threat to their safety, as well as the power to temporarily close the mine until all hazardous conditions are rectified.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment

    + Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

    + Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

    + Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    + Five years of technical mining experience in underground industrial minerals mines;or

    + An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes a minimum of one year of technical mining experience in underground industrial minerals mines.

    Special Requirements:

    + Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

    + Possession of a Class A "General" blaster's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or possession of any valid blaster's license or certificate that meets the approval of the Department of Environmental Protection.

    Other Requirements:
