College Accounting Assistant - Collections (Provisional)
GENERAL DUTIES
Under direct supervision, performs bookkeeping, clerical, and sub professional work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility related to college accounting. Such work may be performed utilizing computers and related technology.
There are two Assignment Levels for this position. All personnel perform related work. This specification describes typical assignments for this position; related duties may be assigned as needed.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
In addition to the general duties, this position will be primarily responsible for managing billing and collections of student tuition and fee receivables prior to assignment to a Collection Agency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
ASSIGNMENT LEVEL 1:
- A high school diploma or its equivalent, plus
- An associate degree from an accredited institution of higher education, AND One year of full-time bookkeeping, figure clerk, account clerk, or similar experience, OR
- A comparable combination of experience and education.
- Demonstrated English language proficiency (ability to speak, read, write and understand English well enough to meet job requirements).
ASSIGNMENT LEVEL 1A:
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education, including or supplemented by at least eighteen (18) credits in accounting and at least six (6) credits in data processing, computer science, finance, banking, economics, taxation, statistics, or similar courses.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
•One year of Higher Education experience (Accounts Receivable experience a plus)
•Associate degree or higher, preferably in Accounting
•PeopleSoft experience, specifically working within the Student Financials module
•Proficient knowledge of MS Office Products, such as Word, Excel and Power Point
•Customer service experience, strong negotiation skills and ability to effectively collect receivables while maintaining professionalism
•Excellent oral, writing, analytical, organizational and interpersonal communication skills
•Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external parties
•Ability to be proactive, resourceful, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, possessing strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
•Availability to work during extended business hours, which consists of two evenings a week from 5:00pm-7:30pm. Additional extended days during peak periods
COMPENSATION
New Hire Rate: Level I: $43,992
Incumbent Rate Level I: $49,713
New Hire Rate \_Level IA: $49,583
Incumbent Hire Rate – Level IA: $56,031
*This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of employment only.
