Job Description

Job duties/responsibilities:

+ Conducting independent and collaborative research in the area of functional food components and substrate-microbiome-host interactions.

+ Supporting proposal writing, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.

+ Managing lab operations, supervising student researchers, and overseeing compliance and safety.

+ Contributing to translational research and industry partnerships.

+ Other duties as assigned

Required Education:

+ PhD or related degree in a life or physical science

Preferred Education:

+ PhD in food microbiology, food science or a related field

Preferred Experience:

+ Previous human clinical research experience, experience in nutrition and food science, instructional experience.

+ Experience in molecular protein and nucleic acid analysis techniques, microbial fermentation, molecular biology, cell culture and experimental design.

+ Ability to mentor students and postdocs.

+ Prior involvement in grant funded projects

+ Strong publication record.

Required Skills and Abilities:

+ Ability to interact and work effectively as a team member.

+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

+ Good computer and communication skills.

This is a 100% research appointment with potential for renewal based on performance and funding.
