This position is located at the Rocky Mount DMV Headquarters – HR Unit.
NCDOT Human Resources is seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in human resources who enjoys working with others in a team-oriented environment providing a variety of support for DMV employees.
The HR Technician I is a non-supervisory position assigned to the DMV Unit at the DMV Headquarters office inROCKY MOUNT, NC.
The primary focus of this position is to create requisitions and post vacant positions assigned to DMV using an applicant tracking system (Neogov). The HR Tech I reviews all postings to ensure description of work is complete and accurate based on the posting request form. The HR Tech I creates ServiceNow cases to track posting request, and employment hiring packets. The HR Tech I oversees new employee orientation at DMV headquarters for permanent new hires, and transfers, which includes scheduling orientation and mailing acceptance letters and orientation packets; collect I-9 documentation during orientation. The HR Tech I serves as the service awards coordinator for all DMV employees tracking years of service and employee’s eligibility date. The HR Tech I will also generate reports in the HRIS system and act as a backup for PA actions and appointment changes. Attention to detail is critical and the selected candidate must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals of varying skills and abilities. They must establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, administrative officials, and the general public. This position interprets and applies personnel and departmental policies to address issues regarding service award eligibility, as well as other HR related issues. This position will complete special projects when assigned. This position reports directly to the HR DMV Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

+ Demonstrated ability to use a human resources data base to processing, retrieving, or referencing personnel data from a system such as NeoGov, People Admin, Fiori, Workday, etc.
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office using MS Word and Excel.
+ Experience exercising judgment and discretion in the application and interpretation of Human Resource policies and procedures.
+ Experience composing documents using a high level of attention to detail.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
