    The Motor Vehicles Professionals (MVP) Program is a starting point for an exciting career with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) at the Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV). It is an opportunity for recent graduates who have both a passion for transportation, public service, and the leadership potential to grow to a fascinating professional role at NCDMV. It is a unique opportunity to be a part of an important mission and gain exposure to various exciting initiatives, operations, management and leadership at NCDOT/DMV.

     

    Through this 18-month full-time, paid program, you will gain exposure to a variety of opportunities in the various fields of discipline and work within NCDMV. As you progress through this structured program, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in the various units that comprise the scope of the DMV which include Business Services, Commissioner’s Office, Customer Compliance, Driver Services, Training and Development, Safety and Vehicle Services. The program is designed for highly motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to NCDMV’s operations including administrative, business, legislative and public relations.

     

    ThisMVP Administrative Specialist I Traineewill be assigned to theVehicle ServicesDirector’s office. This section within the division oversees and manages multiple and varied, critical and complex statewide programs. This position will serve as support to upper management positions within Vehicle Services. This position serves as support personnel to the Vehicle Services Unit and will float between units. This position is responsible for providing customer service to the general public in all areas of vehicle registration based on need. This position requires technical skills in order to process requests from customers using the STARS program. This position will need to be proficient in examining title, registration, and identification documents to detect fraudulent, altered, or suspicious items. This position accepts payments for services rendered and observes all proper money handling procedures. This position inspects title and registration documents to ensure they are executed in the manner stated in the General Statutes and fees are collected or adjusted according to the same statutes. The other duties of this position include researching and responding to, cancellation of title records, address changes, requests for certified records, real estate/mobile home cancellations and various general inquiries and correspondence.

     

    As an entry level professional at the NCDOT/DMV, MVP Administrative Specialist I Trainees are offered a starting salary of $37,782 and are eligible to receive salary adjustments with satisfactory work evaluations. Upon completion of the program, MVP participants may be eligible to transfer into an Administrative Specialist I position at $51,951.     Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

    The following are the minimum requirements to be eligible for the NC DMV MVP Program Coordinator I Trainee in Vehicle Services:

    + Experience in computer and Mainframe databases.

    + Demonstrated ability to proficiently use correct grammar, spelling, and vocabulary to compose/proofread correspondence.

    + Demonstrated ability to interpret and explain policies, procedures, and laws.

    + No more than 2 Years Post Graduation.

    Management Preferences:

    •Experience in reviewing detailed documents and records for accuracy and authenticity.

    • Experience with recording, compiling, summarizing, analyzing data.

    • Experience balancing a cash drawer.

     

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
