Job Summary
Manager System Protection is the responsible owner of assigned business process associated with new customer work, system operations, maintenance and reliability, construction necessary to support system growth, and/or emergency response work. This position manages the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the business process in support of strategic plans and organizational objectives. This role provides protection and substation communications services. This position provides functional protection and substation communications expertise and support throughout the company's electric system. This role is responsible for evaluating, planning, engineering, coordinating, supervising, and maintaining electrical control systems in substations and generation.

+ Responds to electrical system emergencies on a 24-hour basis to assist the system control center(s).
+ Develops and coordinates the implementation of cost-effective electric system policies and practices to support operating business unit processes.
+ Provides technical leadership services on system protection engineering, operations, and maintenance issues.
+ Leads in the selection of protective relay devices and equipment for standard system protection schemes.
+ Leads in the application of protection equipment for new or changing substation schemes.
+ Leads in the setting, testing, commissioning, and maintaining protective relays in the electric system.
+ Leads in the commissioning and maintaining supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) equipment in substations to allow remote control and monitoring of substations from the system control center(s).
+ Leads the planning, coordination, and management of an assigned business process.
+ Maintains a thorough understanding of the technical and practical aspects of the business process including workflow, reporting relationships, technology, and systems.
+ Creates an overall environment for successful development, deployment, and enhancement.
+ Coordinates with other process owners to plan, forecast, and schedule work that coincides with operational activities, properly utilizes equipment and material, and manages costs.
+ Adapts operational processes to address business and operational obstacles.
+ Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
Education Requirements
+ Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in engineering or related area Preferred
+ Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred
Required Experience
+ 3 years technical and/or professional experience, including demonstrated effective leadership, supervisory skills and supervision of an engineering organization
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Demonstrated knowledge of the NESC and NEC and service regulations preferred.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of electric system components and related communication and protection functions preferred.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of electric utility system operations, maintenance, and construction practices preferred.
+ Demonstrated financial skills such as budgeting and basic accounting preferred.
+ Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
+ Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment.

Pay Range:
$120,000-$140,000
This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
