    Job Overview:

    The Cardiac Service Medical Assistant, is responsible for working alongside physicians, NP s and PA s for a variety of patient care, technical and clerical related functions. The Medical Assistant is responsible for the delivery of quality patient services, office communication, information storage, clinic patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of health care services. They will assist with vital signs, weight-ins, preparations for examinations and/or treatment and will provide secretarial and receptionist support. This role contributes to the successful operation of the work area and functions in accordance with all existing regulatory and hospital standards, policies and procedures.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    + Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).

    + At least six (6) months to one (1) year of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous medical assistant experience or background preferred.

    Certifications and Licenses Required:

    + Must have a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant certification through AMT, NHA, NCCT, AAA, NCMA, AMCA or NAHP. OR qualify and obtain certification within 60 days of hire.

    + BLS required. Individual is expected to attend some classes that educate and improve medical service skills on a yearly basis and produce supporting documentation.
