About Ag Inputs:
The Agricultural Inputs Division of the Georgia Department of Agriculture is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective regulation of products that are essential to agriculture.
The Ag Inputs Division encompasses eight regulatory programs: feed, fertilizer, horticultural growing media, lime, pesticide, seed, soil amendment, and CAFO (Concentrated Animal Feed Operations).
Job Summary:
This position assists with the development of policies and procedures and completes administrative duties, which include but are not limited to:
• Review, interpret, and evaluate state and federal laws and regulations that may affect state animal feed, fertilizer, horticultural growing media, lime, pesticide, seed, soil amendment, and CAFO programs
• Make appropriate recommendations for rule changes, program guidelines, and methods of enforcement
• Assist in the development and implementation of new methods, policies, and procedures to further program goals
• Advise inspectors, stakeholders, and policy advisors on technical and regulatory issues
• Take appropriate enforcement actions against facilities or individuals who violate agricultural regulations
• Advise GDA Leadership of problems and/or trends
• Willingness to travel and actively engage and participate in meetings/workshops with association groups, industry groups, academia, and other initiatives
• Remain current on industry practices and regulatory changes
• Coordinate and facilitate solutions for challenges faced by inspectors and other staff
• Work independently to manage tasks and resolve complex issues.

Preferred Education and Experience:
+ + Three years of professional experience in the agriculture field.
+ + Working knowledge of the Windows computer operating system and applications.
+ Working knowledge of two or more of the following practices: animal feed, seed, fertilizer, lime, horticultural growing media, soil amendments, pesticides.
+ Familiar with agricultural laws, rules, regulations, and procedures, and have experience issuing enforcement related to agricultural laws, rules, regulations, and procedures.

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role in the area of assignment; or six (6) years of experience in the area of assignment, including three (3) years in a managerial role; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Mgr, Regulatory Compliance (RCM050) or position equivalent.
