The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Director of Development to support the Illinois Region and must be able to come into the office a few times a week _T_ **_his is a hybrid work position where you will meet with donors frequently, work once a week in our office at 2200 W Harrison Street and remote at other times._**
_WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:_
In this role, you will partner with a Chief Development Officer to lead a team of professional fundraisers in strengthening and growing the region’s fundraising **events,** **board relations** **and foundation donors** to meet its assigned financial yearly target over $20M. You will provide leadership to the staff and volunteers in planning, managing, and implementing fundraising development strategies for assigned segment(s) of giving. You will also, assist in the cultivation of donors and sponsors to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets while maintaining your own portfolios. The Director is responsible to lead a team including hiring, training, coaching, and managing performance. You will also provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all assigned volunteers.

+ Develop and implement a strategic plan for revenue growth from donors at the $5,000+ level with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for the American Red Cross. Serve as a staff liaison to the Board's Philanthropy Committee and developing and implementing strategies for board giving and influence for the region, leading the region's special events programs and leading a strategy to identify, cultivate, and engage foundations to grow their support for the American Red Cross.
+ Personally manage a portfolio of high-level donors and prospects within assigned segment to achieve annual revenue target, including both renewable gifts and new incremental revenue. Revenue target may increase due to major domestic disasters. Develop and implement strategies for donor discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
+ Serve as a senior leader in the Region and proactively drive the implementation of strategic decisions for the organization. Ensure that the Region meets all reporting requirements related to fundraising, including ensuring up to date donor records in Salesforce.
+ Provide oversight for four major fundraising events across state-wide region, raising over $2 million annually, including the American Red Cross’ largest fundraiser nationally, the Heroes BreakfastBe at the Forefront of Disaster Relief Fundraising: When emergencies arise, the American Red Cross is ready to support communities in times of disaster. Support disaster relief fundraising efforts that drive immediate impact and attracts donors to our life saving mission.
_COMPENSATION_
_The salary range for this position is: $120,000 – 132,000. You will be eligible to participate in an incentive plan based on annual individual and organization performance._
_Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, and comparison to other employees already in this role._
_WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED_
+ Bachelor's degree required. An advanced degree is highly desirable.
+ Minimum 7 years of sales/fundraising experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
+ Five years of management experience.
+ Experience with increasing philanthropic revenue from diverse constituencies, developing and implementing broad-based fundraising programs, and knowledge of “best practices” in development.
+ A current valid driver's license and a good driving record is required.
+ Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills. Knowledge of office systems: MS Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce.com). Ability to work on a team within a collaborative environment and ensure the highest customer service orientation.
Travel: Requires frequent travel within the Illinois Region. Occasional travel within the Division may be required.
* Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

_Physical Requirements:_
Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods of time. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.
