MHSD is one of ten districts across Louisiana, created by the state legislature in 2003 to oversee the delivery of publicly funded, community-based mental health, addictive disorders and developmental disabilities services to our area. MHSD serves adults, children and families of Orleans, Plaquemines and St. Bernard Parishes. In particular, we serve residents who are uninsured, or Medicaid eligible/covered, individuals suffering from mental illness, individuals suffering from addiction, and individuals who have developmental and/or intellectual disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
• Responsible for collection and data entry of complete and accurate client demographic and financial information, along with other identified data elements required by agency policy and procedure.
• Responsible for greeting, directing and completing status of individuals scheduled daily.
• Responsible for clear and complete explanation and communication to individuals of clinic processes, individual rights/responsibilities, consent for treatment and completion of all intake paperwork, as required by MHSD policies and procedures. This may include the collection of intake documents utilizing online platforms.
• Maintain daily, weekly and monthly logs of reports to be turned in as scheduled.
• Assist individuals with Medicaid Enrollment
• Verify insurance eligibility on all individuals using Passport One Source.
• Complies with agency and departmental procedures, including those for which measurement indicators and goals have been established.
• Collects and scans all required documentation and uploads it into Electronic Health Record (EHR), including documents collected in person and electronically
• Responsible for MHSD survey administration and data entry
• As a part of the registration process, responsible for Telehealth connectivity validations
• Use the EHR to schedule follow-up appointments
• Use the EHR to re-schedule appointments in clinic for providers and administrators. (Care Center will reschedule appointments for incoming callers)
• Transferring calls within the agency
• Checking the registration team's voicemail and calling the person back, if necessary
• Logging into and actively using agency software that support job duties.
• Keeps Supervisor informed of any issues and/or challenges.
• Establishes and maintains positive and productive work environment, including good working relationships with all clinic staff.
• Accurately schedules individuals for Behavioral Health services provided by MHSD clinical staff.
• Responsible for notifying individuals at least 24 hours in advance of scheduled appointments, cancellations or reschedules due to facility closures.
• Operates and maintains office equipment, including computer and required peripherals.
• Serves as backup to other Registration and Front desk staff, as necessary.
• Maintains confidentiality in all matters related to clients and staff.
• Completes other job duties as assigned and designated as part of the registration process

The incumbent in the Health Information Coordinator 2 position plays a crucial role in the management and organization of healthcare data within the Metropolitan Human Services District (MHSD) – Carelogic - Electronic Health Record (EHR) system(s), in accordance with the agency’s admissions and billing criteria. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the accurate and secure collection, storage, and retrieval of person served information, as well as ensuring compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations. The incumbent in the Health Information Coordinator position collaborates with various internal healthcare professionals/clinicians to maintain the integrity and accessibility of health records.
