Job Description:
About the Position
In this role, you will...
Journeyman-level trades work including, but not limited to:
+ Work independently performing manual labor including, but not limited to, carpentry, metal work, general masonry/concrete, measuring, and project coordination/execution in all types of conditions.
+ Coordinate and general oversight of department projects and fellow tradesmen, including but not limited to basic cost determination, acquiring materials and equipment, and collaborating with fellow tradesmen and other departments to meet deadlines.
+ General Knowledge of concrete work and rebar, including design and structural elements.
+ Assess/inspect/repair metal surfaces (shelters, benches, handrails, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that components are in safe working condition.
+ Oversee equipment and tool maintenance, supplies inventory, and PPE distribution for the purpose of ensuring item availability and safety for employees and the public.
+ Respond to emergencies to resolve immediate safety concerns.
+ Prepare written materials (e.g., work orders, requisitions, drawings, sketches, etc.) to document activities, providing written references and/or conveying information.
+ Ability to read, interpret, and analyze facility drawings and site plans, communicate with vendors performing routine or corrective maintenance projects, refresh and rebrand, and trash collection.
+ Respond to work orders for repairs at Breeze shelters, involving carpentry, painting, concrete and metal work, and irrigation.
+ Must be able to provide maintenance, working knowledge, and organization of department equipment and stock including, but not limited to, various basic lawncare tools, battery/gas/electric tools and equipment, tracking janitorial supplies, and stock supplies for Breeze facilities.
Related administrative functions include, but are not limited to:
+ Utilize appropriate technology and/or manual processes to track and locate bus stops, work orders, invoices, and receipts, and monitor and report on individual and group work performed or scheduled.
+ Must have working knowledge and ability to check/send email, use internet search systems, and familiarity with work order management systems to track time, work type, cost, etc.
+ Carry a purchasing card and independently make fiscally responsible and program-compliant purchases.
+ Coordinate coverage during vacations and personal time off for tradesmen.
About the Schedule
Work Hours:
+ Full-time, 40 hours per week.
+ Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (No weekends!)
+ Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, on-call, emergencies, etc.

About You
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
+ A High School Diploma or its equivalent and three (3) years of experience in facility maintenance or construction experience.
+ Possession of a Valid Driver’s License.
The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:
+ Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and tools needed to perform the required tasks of this position.
+ Ability to represent the County to the public in a courteous manner and to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
+ Ability to perform or learn semi-skilled carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, and irrigation tasks.
+ Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under hot and humid conditions.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for five years.
Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. Employees can use handling devices (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessive poundage of 50-plus pounds.

About Everything Else
Starting Pay Range: $21.54 - $28.29 an hour, based on experience.
Employee Type:Regular (Budgeted)
