    The Position

    Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

     

    This Tax Manager position is assigned to Revenue in the Compliance Division and may be located in Carson City, Las Vegas, or Reno based on the location of the incumbent and needs of the agency. Staff are generally located statewide with potential for telecommuting in some cases. The Revenue Section is comprised of two sections: The Collections Unit (CU), and the Taxation Services Unit (TSU). Collections Unit (CU) staff monitor taxpayer accounts for compliance with statutes, regulations and reporting requirements; collect taxes on delinquent accounts; pursue legal routes and remedies to protect state tax revenues; and testify in closed administrative hearings and public meetings on collections cases. The Collections Unit includes a special team which focuses on bankruptcies and other collections related programs. The Taxation Services Unit (TSU) includes the Call Center, Counter Tax Examiners, and support staff who are the front-line support for taxpayers and the public. Staff provide general and specific assistance with registration, e-services, reporting requirements, the taxability of transactions, and a variety of other topics.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

     

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, finance or related field and five years of professional level experience in accounting, auditing and/or tax administration programs involving interpretation and application of statutory provisions, including three years of supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    Special Requirements

    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

     

    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.

     

    Additional Position Criteria

     

    This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
