The Position
Within the Governor's Finance Office (GFO), Executive Branch Budget Officers develop, analyze and make recommendations on biennial budgets and expenditures for all executive budgets; analyze agency staffing ratios and historical data in relation to population growth, economic conditions, national trends and standards and other pertinent information; make evaluative judgments regarding the efficiency of agency operations, effectiveness in reaching established goals and objectives, organizational structure, and legislative intent; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This Executive Branch Budget Officer (EBBO) 2 within the Governor's Finance Office will be located in Carson City. This position will supervise 2 Executive Branch Budget Officer 1s in the unit. The EBBO prepares and implements budgets for one or more agencies; develop expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; and analyze budget requests and adjustments. Job duties for this position include the preparation and implementation of budgets, the review and analysis of budget requests and adjustments as well as ensuring compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations. Additionally, the incumbent assists agencies in developing budget requests, monitors assigned budget accounts, and controls/oversees budgets to ensure compliance. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and six years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to an Executive Branch Budget Officer I in Nevada State service; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Services Officer III or Executive Branch Budget Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
