Job Details:
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) for Chemotherapy Infusion is a Registered Nurse with specialized experience in oncology and infusion services. This hybrid leadership role includes direct patient care and administrative responsibilities. The ANM supports the Regional Director of Cancer Services in the daily operations of the infusion center, ensures high-quality, evidence-based oncology care, and provides leadership to clinical staff.
Responsibilities:
+ Administers chemotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care infusions, and injections in compliance with ONS/ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy guidelines.
+ Performs clinical assessments, patient education, venous access device management, and emergency interventions as needed.
+ Triage patient phone calls, assess symptoms, and collaborate with providers to coordinate timely care.
+ Coordinates and submit prior authorizations for chemotherapy and infusion-related treatments in collaboration with providers and staff.
+ Monitors patients for adverse drug reactions and report/document per protocol.
+ Serves as a clinical resource and mentor for staff, reinforcing best practices in oncology nursing.
+ Coordinates daily infusion schedule, ensuring optimal chair utilization and staffing alignment.
+ Manages staff assignments, timecards, and payroll processes in accordance with HR policies.
+ Assists with hiring, onboarding, and training new staff, including temporary or float pool nurses.
+ Addresses and resolve staff performance concerns, patient complaints, and operational challenges in collaboration with the Regional Director, Cancer Services and HR.
+ Facilitates communication between physicians, nursing staff, pharmacy, and administrative departments.
+ Ensures compliance with safety standards, infection control, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
+ Participates in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and nursing competencies related to oncology infusion care.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience: A minimum of three years clinical experience required. 2 years of Oncology nursing experience, including chemotherapy administration required. Progressive leadership or charge nurse experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s in Nursing required. Master’s degree preferred.
Licenses / Certifications: Possession of a valid license and current registration, issued by the New York State Education Department, as a Registered Nurse.
BLS and ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required. OCN preferred.
Other: Strong leadership, clinical decision-making, interpersonal, and communication skills. Proficiency with EMR systems and scheduling software.
