The Cornell Cooperative Extension Ulster County (CCEUC) Development Coordinator works independently under the general supervision of the Development Director and is responsible for the daily management of CCEUC’s fundraising activities. This position will work closely with the Development Director to implement CCEUC’s fundraising strategy. The Development Coordinator’s day-to-day activities may include donor identification, creating cultivation material, stewarding donors, grant writing, or grant management. The Development Coordinator and the Development Director will collaborate to effectuate a sustainable grassroots fundraising operation, find and engage major donors, implement robust internal processes for tracking and managing all contributions, and engage staff and Board members in development activities. The Development Coordinator will work with the development team to create and maintain high-quality, external communication and solicitation material. This position will collaborate with the Communication & Outreach Coordinator to maintain a unified organizational voice and implement strategic communications for the organization.
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related fields. Associate degree and two years’ transferable experience is acceptable.
+ Four years of work experience relevant to the role of the position.
+ Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and visual channels using traditional educational tools, as well as electronic technology (e.g., video, audio, web, etc.).
+ Experience in nonprofit fundraising and a demonstrated knowledge of grassroots fundraising strategies.
+ Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to work as a team member.
+ Ability to set goals, develop plans to attain those goals and to document impact.
+ Ability to relate effectively to co-workers, advisors, community and donors.
+ Demonstrated proficiency with multiple Windows-based software including Microsoft products such as, but not limited to, Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel.
+ Excellent analytic, organization, and time management skills.
+ Ability to coordinate and direct others.
+ Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
+ Demonstrated ability to establish work priorities, set and reach goals, and handle multiple deadlines.
+ Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
+ Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude and appearance.
+ Ability to maintain a positive public image of CCE when dealing with clients, volunteers, and committee members.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience with Cooperative Extension or other educational organizations.
+ Demonstrated ability to create and maintain complex and unique database of information.
+ Experience using identification tools such as Foundation Directory, DonorSearch, etc.
+ Experience with managing local, state, and federal grants.
+ Experience managing staff, interns, or volunteers.
+ Experience facilitating fundraising events and campaigns.
+ Experience with donor database software such as Salesforce, Neon One, or Bloomerang
+ Ability to communicate in Spanish.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Administrative Responsibilities:Direction and Management - 65%
+ Contribute to the ongoing refinement of CCEUC’s development strategy.
+ Lead grassroots fundraising strategy for the organization.
+ Manage effective implementation of internal development operations.
+ Lead the ongoing development and refinement of the organization’s CRM/donor database.
+ Network with local organizations, schools, and community groups to advertise and coordinate fundraising activities.
+ Assist in creating a unifying tone for press releases, website updates, social media, donor solicitations, etc.
+ Provide support, guidance, and direction to development contractors or specialists.
+ Provide leadership in the creation of written marketing and solicitation materials to highlight programs.
+ Motivate, support and train staff to participate as needed in fundraising efforts.
+ Direct and facilitate internal donation processes including but not limited to tracking donations and grants, developing and preparing internal reporting systems, working with program staff to ensure project or program is meeting proposal and project outcomes and expectations.
+ Form and maintain effective working relationship with Cornell Cooperative Extension Administration.
+ Engage organization leadership (Executive Director, Board of Directors) to implement donor cultivation and development strategy as needed.
+ Provide logistical support in planning and executing events and programs.
Coordination/Operation - 30%
+ Provide a limited number of moderately complex tasks related to organizational and program needs.
+ Provide low-complexity administrative management support to the overall organization.
+ Provide moderately complex administrative tasks in implementing development strategy including major donor cultivation, fundraising events, donor solicitations, campaigns, and grants and contracts.
+ Under the guidance of supervisor, serve as liaison with community organizations surrounding program efforts and opportunities to expand effective networks.
+ Maintain high-quality data in CRM/donor database. Update the CRM/donor database on a regular basis.
+ Coordinate internal and external mailings, including communications and event invitations.
+ Assist with acknowledgements of all donations, pledges, etc.
+ Support the preparation and submission of corporate, foundation, and private grants and contract proposals to secure funding.
+ Ensure accurate and meaningful donor solicitations and grant applications and follow up on reporting to maximize funding opportunities.
+ Regularly research and analyze funding opportunities and donor prospects.
+ Organize complex tasks in implementing communication and marketing plans related to campaigns, donations, grants and contracts.
+ Write, prepare, disseminate, and keep accurate records and/or copies of all communications, reports and fundraising materials such as brochures and newsletters, with input or assistance from staff.
+ Work with relevant staff to develop and manage donor databases for use in marketing and fundraising efforts.
+ Effectively maintain professional relationships with other associations, agencies, organizations, and businesses and other CCEUC partners and community members.
+ Organize Association materials and/or resources to/from activities and events such as the Ulster County Fair.
Professional Improvement - 5%
+ In cooperation with Supervisor, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
+ Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.

+ Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
+ Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.

This is a full time, exempt, benefits eligible position. Compensation starting at the rate of $64,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits, based on eligibility, including:
