A Brief Summary of This Position:
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a critical member of Valmont Industries' Executive Leadership Team, responsible for developing and executing the company’s global information technology strategy. This role demands an enterprise-level leader with a forward-thinking mindset, someone who can translate business objectives into transformative technology initiatives. The CIO will drive operational excellence while enabling innovation, growth, and resiliency across a global manufacturing footprint.
As a strategic partner to business leadership, the CIO will play a pivotal role in supporting and shaping Valmont’s enterprise-wide digital transformation. This includes close collaboration with the business-led artificial intelligence team to ensure alignment between emerging technology initiatives and broader enterprise priorities. A strong appreciation for the strategic use of data, analytics, automation, and digital enablement is essential.
The CIO will bring an agile, modernization-oriented approach to technology delivery, balancing long-term scalability with speed to impact. This leader will be instrumental in strengthening IT’s service orientation, building a culture that emphasizes responsiveness, accountability, and strong business partnership. The CIO will also contribute to Valmont’s cybersecurity strategy by partnering with key stakeholders to help safeguard digital assets, infrastructure, and intellectual property.
Essential Functions:
Digital Transformation Leadership
+ Lead global digital transformation initiatives to modernize IT infrastructure, manufacturing technologies, and enterprise systems.
+ Streamline platforms impacting production, supply chain, and operational workflows for enhanced efficiency and agility.
+ Partner with business-led AI teams to guide enterprise-wide digital strategies.
Data Analytics & Business Intelligence
+ Develop and implement an enterprise-wide data strategy focused on actionable analytics and business intelligence.
+ Utilize advanced analytics to drive data-informed decisions and optimize supply chain performance.
Cybersecurity and Risk Management
+ Direct comprehensive cybersecurity programs to safeguard digital assets and ensure operational continuity.
+ Oversee incident response planning, regulatory compliance frameworks, and proactive threat intelligence strategies.
Change Management and Organizational Readiness
+ Champion robust change management practices to navigate digital and technological shifts effectively.
+ Foster change-resilient teams and ensure stakeholder engagement during major system implementations.
Customer-Centric Technology Solutions
+ Align IT initiatives with customer needs to deliver scalable digital experiences and value-added solutions.
+ Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to enhance tech-enabled customer engagement.
Strategic Planning and Governance
+ Define and drive enterprise IT strategy aligned with corporate goals and measurable outcomes.
+ Lead the IT Steering Committee and interface with the Board’s Audit Committee on IT strategy matters.
+ Establish and enforce global IT standards and governance across all business units and regions.
Vendor and Technology Partner Management
+ Cultivate strategic partnerships with key vendors, service providers, and technology partners.
+ Drive contract negotiations, performance evaluations, and risk assessments to optimize value and innovation.
Operational and Team Leadership
+ Mentor and develop a high-performing global IT organization.
+ Oversee enterprise infrastructure, data centers, cloud platforms, ERP systems, and communication systems.
+ Manage department budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
+ Minimum 10 years of progressive IT experience, including 5+ years in executive leadership roles.
+ Expertise in ERP platforms, particularly within manufacturing environments.
+ Experience leading digital and operational technology initiatives globally.
+ Global travel flexibility (up to 30%).
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
+ Master’s Degree (MBA or related).
+ Background in manufacturing with Lean methodologies understanding.
+ Experience with engineering systems and Industry 4.0 technologies.
+ Proficiency in contract negotiation and vendor relationship management.
