    Ameresco has a new opportunity for a Project Development Engineer to join Ameresco’s Team in the development and implementation of design build projects, energy performance contracting projects, and renewable energy initiatives. The Sr Project Development Engineer builds effective relationships with team members, internal and external customers, designers, suppliers, and subcontractors. This person is responsible for oversight and/or preparing design concepts for potential projects, preliminary budgets, and final scoping documents for subcontractor pricing proposals. The Sr Project Development Engineer plays a direct leadership role in building credibility with our target customers, is resourceful, and is excited about developing winning strategies using company resources/assets, design consultants, subcontractor partners, and key vendors.

    Job Responsibilities:

    + Assists in Sales calls and presentations to clients;

    + Assess facilities and develop design concepts for potential projects;

    + Perform energy saving calculations using spreadsheets and/or building modeling software

    + Provide detailed estimates for potential projects.

    + Prepare conceptual design documents and specifications for competitive bidding by subcontractors;

    + Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional best practices;

    + Ensure compliance with state and local codes;

    + Provide successful project implementation that meets or exceeds company objectives, financial parameters, and technical needs required to deliver customer energy cost savings;

    + Coordinate with vendors and installation contractors for feasibility and pricing verification of proposed project requirements;

    + Provide subcontractor bid analysis and review preliminary schedules for completeness and accuracy;

    + Provide design guidance throughout construction, project commissioning, and operations;

    + Foster positive and effective business relationships at all levels and project phases;

    + Perform other duties as required.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

    + Minimum of 5 years of design build experience covering all aspects of HVAC systems design.

    + Proficiency and experience utilizing AutoCAD, Bluebeam or other drafting software is required.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of state, and local building codes is required.

    Additional Qualifications:

    + Professional Engineering license (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and/or LEED AP preferred.

    + Familiarity of Electrical, Plumbing, General Construction, and Fire Protection are a plus

    + Proven ability to manage and complete complex projects in a timely, cost-effective and customer focused manner.

    + Knowledgeable in construction work breakdowns, operations, means and methods, and materials.

    + Excellent verbal, written, computer, and technical communication and presentations skills, including advanced MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.

    + Valid Drivers’ License in good standing, issued by resident state required.

    + Local and regional travel will be required.
